    Igor's record rose to 40-2-1 before he lost the Pride GP final to Mark Coleman in 2000. At this point, he'd been undefeated since 1995, and had stopped both Sakuraba and Gary Goodridge in order to make the final.

    Great fighter from the NHB era, with a right hand from hell

    Pretty tough to Judge him as an MMA fighter as he should be considered a pioneer. At one time he was the most feared guy in MMA and the win against Kerr was HUGE when you put it into context

    Very good in terms of MMA though because he did accomplish quite a bit, but a great in the NHB era

    Well, it's not really 'enough said' when the question is "Very Good or Great?" and you haven't selected one of them, nor explained your answer, nor even voted in the poll. Do you consider him Very Good or Great? No fence-sitting please.

    Well Stoo did say it all but I vote great. Its not his fault the era he fought in but the streak can't be ignored. He's a pioneer.

    He cant be that good if he got outstruck by Coleman. I read he actually tapped to Colemans knees. Colemans never been known for his knees from the plum. And to tap shows a lack of heart. Thats 2 huge knocks negatives, so merely good is probably the wise mans answer

    Come on man, for **** sake. Why bother making an utterly damning judgement on a guy on the basis of a fight you admit to not having seen? It makes no sense whatsoever to do this... ever. Under any circumstances.

    Good. The guy had a big right hand, horribly sloppy boxing, little ground game, and his wins are largely unimpressive. For his time he was pretty good, but that time was shitty altogether.

    To make a damning assessment of a fighter's heart and ability, you surely need to have seen the fight that you make the judgement from. It makes no sense to do otherwise.

    This is like saying:

    "Antonio Margarito got knocked out by Shane Mosley, so Margarito must have a Glass Jaw."

    Of course, without watching the fight you wouldn't know that Margarito ate flush bombs for 9 rounds, and got up from one knockdown where he looked wrecked.

    The result (on paper) cannot tell the true story of a fight. It's fine to draw general assumptions about a guy's resume from paper (I mean, for example no-one has seen ALL of Igor Vovchanchyn's fights have they?), but to make a very definite and damning judgement on him from the result of one fight that you haven't seen is pretty crazy.
