Very Good or Great? Volume 9: Igor Vovchanchyn

Overeem is one of my favorite fighters. He's an excellent example of a Glass Jaw, Glass Heart, Glass Legs, hell, an entire package of silica!

And people think that this guy is ready for the best HWs in the world because he dilligently ate his roids, err horse meat, and won a GP without beating K-1's best.atsch

Too bad he'll continue on the path of the rest of the Euro bums and continue to take advantage of freak fights on the Japanese circuit. I mean, who needs to see him fight Velasquez or Dos Santos when we can see him beat up cans like Duffee.

 

I told you, that's not one that I'm sold on, I'm just favoring Overeem now because I really can't stand Junior's defense. The guy stands with his head stock straight in the air, hands low, and when he starts punching his Chin is a wide open ****ing target. I'm iffy on Overeem because he has no Chin and no Heart and his defense is also atrocious, particularly when he doesn't have K-1 gloves, but he hides his shitty Chin better than Junior does his and I'm not sure how good Junior's Chin is.

 

I knew he'd beat the **** out of Carwin because the guy can't box for ****, offensively or defensively and his wrestling is average at best.

 

Igor won 7 eight-man tournaments. More than anyone in history. That alone places him in the history books.

Illoukine "won" by gouging Igor's eye with his chin for **** sakes. He also won the final vs Morais by elbowing Morais probably 20 times right on the back of the neck (which was legal though). No eye gouging was the only rule but they still gave him the win.

Vovchanchyn won the 1993 or 1994 IAKSA World Amateur Kickboxing Championships. I have video of it. You don't do that if you suck....

He gave a prime Ernesto Hoost who is 9 inches taller a handful in a K1 rules fight. He caught Hoost's lowkick and countered with overhand rights that dropped Hoost on his ass at least 5 times. He lost cuz Hoost's reach and low kicks and eventually brutalized Igor's leg to the point where he couldn't stand anymore.

 

He didnt give "prime Hoost all he could handle" he partially landed some looping right hands on Ernesto while hoost was standing on one leg and as a result hoost fell down. those werent counted as knockdowns because they werent legitimate knockdowns. I dont think Igor checked a single low kick in that fight. Igor got schooled by an ATG kickboxer in Ernesto Hoost. Theres no shame in that, but dont spin it like it was a competitive fight because it wasnt.
