1. ARTHUR ABRAHAM 2. KELLY PAVLIK 3. FELIX STURM 4. KHOREN GEVOR 5. AMIN ASIKAINEN 6. RANDY GRIFFIN 7. SEBASTIAN SYLVESTER 8. JAVIER CASTILLEJO 9. DAVID LOPEZ 10. MARCO ANTONIO RUBIO 11. RAUL MARQUEZ 12. DMITRY PIROG 13. WAYNE ELCOCK 14. MAHIR ORAL 15. ELVIN AYALA 16. MARIANO NATALIO CARRERA 17. SEBASTIAN ZBIK 18. PETER QUILLIN 19. DANIEL GEALE 20. DOMENICO SPADA Gevor promoted to 4th due to Asikainen win. Asikainen not demoted more than 1 place due to also his rivals losing their last world-class fights.
Pavlik is the champ regardless if you consider Abraham better or not(I personnally do too) and Marquez has retired
I quite agree with you. The Finnish fighter should not be ranked among the top 6-7 at middle weight at present. He was knocked out by both Sylvester and Gevor. As you know bothe the Armenian and the German are not exactly known for their great firepower. I for my part would always beat my money on someone like Carrera in a fight against Asikainen.
Here are the correct rankings: Champ: Kelly Pavlik 1. Arthur Abraham 2. Felix Sturm And then everyone else.
Champ: Kelly Pavlik #1, Winky Wright #2, Arthur Abraham #3, felix Sturm and then everyone else. I'm assuming that Winky is serious about his comeback, and that he can return to the level he was at in the Taylor fight. Yes, it's an assumption, but I think it is a safe one.
Winky is done, no fight for years..... Asikainen should be under Sylvester, no need for him to be so high, but I agree on Abraham above Pavlik.
pavlik lost at a higher weight so it should affect his p4p rankings but it should not have affected his mw status. if he lost to a mw then fair enough. so i think it should be pavlik then abraham then strum until these guys actually fight one another.
I've been out of town with not much access to news or the internet. I just now found out that Winky pulled out of his comeback fight. That does leave him out of the picture, that's for sure. Pavlik KO8 Abraham: Arthur is a warrior, but he'd have a puncher's chance at best against Pavlik.
Pavlik is THE middleweight champion until someone at 160 proves otherwise. Pavlik beat Taylor who beat Hopkins, and BHop was undisputed at the time. Arthur won a title Taylor vacated in a contest with a guy who never did anything substantial before or after their fight. I have massive respect for AA, but based on resume' and the credibility of their title wins, Pavlik is THE MAN at 160 until someone proves otherwise. Also, you have Marquez at #11. Bronco McKart's last fight was a draw with Raul. If Marquez is #11, Bronco should be right around there somewhere. Considering that Marquez says he's retiring, and McKart is fighting a solid opponent on the 20th of this month, McKart should probably go above Marquez.
So VHB likes to post his rankings then bail out? Man up VHB, and defend how in the world you could place AA above champ Kelly Pavlik
And how the hell does he put Marquez at #11, and not have McKart in the top 20:think Answers man -- we need answers!
I don't think we are gonna get them, and even if we do get them... they won't make any sense :bananamaniac
Hah, nothing to defend. I can very much hold my own, I am no icon worshipper. That is why I JUST LAUGH at anyone who ranks Mundine and Wright at this point. Mundine fought at catchweight twice, beating two nobodies and not looking great. Wright has not fought for 16 months, and for over 2 years in 160. And please cut the crap about Pavlik. I simply think that Taylor was overrated, and we all know Miranda was. Arthur is better than Pavlik, he is unbreakable. He is the real champ and will show it if they meet. I would rank Kelly below him even without that Hopkins loss, that definitely has nothing to do with the whole weight class, there´s one thing you were right about. Asikainen had a bad night with Gevor, but he is still better and more of a threat to Sturm for an example, than Sylvester managed to be. MW level is poor, so Asikainen is still clearly top 10. Marquez was in the world title mix, and he won an eliminator to get his chance. McKart is ranked by me, he was in my top 50 I posted some time ago. Getting one random draw doesn´t really mean ****, if the other fighter continues to the top of division, while the other fades. These are RANKINGS. Then again, Elvin Ayala is in the rankings because of fights he didn´t win: Draw with Mora and KO loss to Abraham. But these are world champions. The same can be applied to Asikainen and Sylvester: Sylvester won their last meeting, and I still don´t consider him the kind of player in big fights that Asikainen could be. Their wins are even, so I chose Asikainen to be the better man.
You guys are just trying to make the lists look better than they are, because you dislike so much the fact that 160 is a poor man´s division today.
