With Montiel moving up to Bantamweight and vacating his WBO title, Darchinyan now owns all the non-vacant titles the 115lb division.

And Nonito Donaire is still a flyweight.

Darch is one of the few people who is the only one with a title in his division.

Darchinyan was the undisputed champion the moment he beat Mijares.

He held (and still holds) all three titles.

    Simple as that.

thats like saying Kessler could have fought Lacy and Beyer to become undisputed at SMW without ever fighting Joe Calzaghe.

Like it or not the WBO has become a major title on par with the other 3.

He would have been undisputed champion.

    All three titles = undisputed.

No weak-ass Sports Network belt is going to change that.

"Undisputed" used to mean something: "no one else had a claim to be recognised as champion/ as the best in the division". Now, people define the term as they see fit, according to which belts they recognise, so it's become a meaningless and useless term. In other words, there's no point in classing beltholders as "undisputed", except for non-boxing, tabular purposes, just like with "lineal" champions.

The Ring would be best awarding their titles (en-mass asap) to the LINEAR champs.

Obviously the likes of HW would be vacant, LHW is debatable.....

HBO could force the hands of fighters and promoters as well, and marginalise the alphabet bodies in the process.

I think Oscar didn't believe in Mosley so he was afraid Margarito become Ring champion.

Baldomir was the ring champ when Mayweather fought. It's not like it was for the vacant ring belt.

That doesn't make sense. Margo and Cotto were 1 and 2 prior to the Mosley fight and were scheduled to fight eachother in June. Given that Margo already beat up Cotto, it's a pretty safe bet that he would beat him again and become the Ring Champ anyway.

    WBO is NO major title.

It's a sub-major title or something like that.

In the end, the fighter makes the belt.

That's fine. However, using Mayweather vs. Baldo to justify making Margo vs. Mosley for the ring belt makes no sense. In one situation, a guy won the belt by beating the reigning ring champ. In the other situation neither fighter had the belt. When one fighter has the belt, it's always on the line. This happens no matter the quality of the fighters involved. This is not the case when the belt is vacant and no.1 is fighting no.3. Vitali vs. Sanders would be a good fight to reference if you want to argue that Margo vs. Mosley should've been for the ring belt.

    4 "MAIN BELTS"

    WBC
    WBO
    WBA
    IBF

I think there should be 2 belts total...WBC and WBO...I disagree with the system as well but thats the way this **** goes man!

thats still what it means. think about it. Vic Darchinyan is WBC, WBA, IBF champ. Montiel vacated his WBO titles, and the ring belt is vacant. So who has a claim to be recognized as champion.

    Things haven't changed.
