With less than a week to go, I think it's time we started a thread on Vic. Anybody know much about his opponent Rojas? Should Vic overcome this guy, talk is of a Donaire re-match in the works early-mid next year...
F#$% forgot about this with all the Green and Mundine crap going on. :yep Looking forward to seeing vic box in this fight and leave the killing for rounds 7 and 8.......Vic KO 8 :deal
I really like his attitude when he gets beaten and hope he beats rojas and then ko's donaire because his post fight interview will be a good watch
Zappas on the undercard isn't he? I'll get the relevant details from SKY and post them and a venue list up later this week.
Totally slipped my mind until yesterday. Rojas is no mug...Should be a hard fight for Vic if he cant get him out of there quickly. GO VIC!!!!!
Havn't confirmed yet but I don't think we'll be seeing Zappa on the card. Have the feeling it'll be Vics fight and the Bradley fight but hope I'm wrong.
Hopefully Vic can get back to his winning ways. The step up in weight was a good test but he just come up short, hopefully he stays at this weight and dominates over the next 2-3yrs before retiring.
This will be a tough fight for Rojas and Darchinyan; both southpaws, both with a similar record of knockouts. Rojas tends to stand centre ring and boxes(mostly), but he will definitely fire up if ruffled up, and he trades toe to toe with anyone. Rojas could win if he stands centre ring and dominates the pick off position. I havent seen the measure up, but would think that Rojas is about 6 -7 inches taller than Darchinyan, and also has a big reach advantage, I would imagine. I forsee some difficulty in Darchinyan bridging the gap between himself and the rangier boxer. I suppose it all boils down to whether Rojas wants to box or blue, on the night. If Rojas were the clever boxer, (which he is - but only sometimes) he might just pick Darchinyan off.... this would be a sensible way to fight a terrior like Vic.... I think in the past Darchinyan is most dangerous throwing his bombs up close... but Rojas might not give him that chance.....both men when engaging their opponents, like to stand square on with their hands down at chest height, fighting toe to toe; both have little regard for protecting their chins (I think it was this that earnt Vic the name: 'Wont-cover-his-chin-again' Darchinyan). Speed or luck could produce a lottery victory from their battle. On the map, I think that experience, height and range might decide the decision here - so I will say Rojas to win. PS:what is predictable in this fight is: Vic 'will' be first to charge in to attack...if I were in Rojas corner, I think the best punch I could tell Rojas to throw, would be the lean back, or hop back(counter), right hook, as Darchinyan is moving in to attack (usually with his hands down).
Cool, I'll be getting the run sheet later in the week so will post it up. I asked Mat about getting it for Canvas Classics and he will attempt to depends on the package he's offered. Did find out they'll be showing Bute-Andrade II soon.
