Vic Darchinyan vs Abner Mares

Tough fight to pick but i think a few people are being a little bit quick to write of Vic:deal

 

i can never write vic off, but i expect mares to edge a hard fought points victory. potential foty anyone??

 

Raging Bull, i dont see Mares being able to take Vic's punches or box around Darch..

Haven't seen enough of Mares to make an informed choice. Do you think the effect fo Vic's punch has lessened due to division jump or is it just Agbeko having an iron jaw?

 

Yup. I see Mares doing a Mexican version of Donaire lol. I KNOW Mares has what its takes to outbox him, but can he keep the power at bay for 12 rounds...well see. I doubt Vic punches as hard since he moved up.

Mares was hurting Perez in those last 2 rounds if i remember....i can see him finish off Vic in those last rounds...

 

I had Mares winning that fight. I'm pretty much sure the finals will be Perez/Mares rematch.

 

For some reason im thinking Agbeko is gonna edge out the win against perez this time, in a very close fight again....At least thats what i hope, cus then we'd have Mares/Agbeko and Perez/Darchy, which both would be great!!!

And if everything goes smoothly, Mares wins the tourney, Montiel beats Donaire, and we get Montiel-Mares somewhere around September on Mexico's independence day weekend!! :happy

I would love Vic to win. That ballsy little psychopath is my favourite fighter.

But I think Mares will have enough to win. We all know that Vic can be outboxed, and that he is getting older (especially for a little guy) and that his main weapon (power) may not have been carried with him to the higher weight.
Mares just seems like the safer bet.

Not sure who will win but I like Mares a very good dedicated young fighter! Without is fight against Perez I would have said Darchinyan wins. Now we'll see. Should be a good fight!!
