What an unbelievable little fighter. Unfortunately i wasn't here for his win, but i have to say, an amazing fight, the best victory for Aussie boxing BY FAR in recent years.

I hope this got as much credit as it deserved.

Cristian Mijares is a brilliant technician, and a guy who was being heralded as the new king of the lower weight classes. A fighter who was entering p4p lists, and was expected to take Vic to school.

All credit to Vic, he took on an extremely tough opponent, and came through with the goods, and a career defining performance.

Vic to me symbolises what boxing is all about. This guy fights anyone and everyone, and does so with 110% committment. I see Mundine getting all this attention, yet we have great fighters like Vic, who are better p4p, taking on exciting match ups, yet being pushed aside by the casual fan.

His upcoming fight vs Arce will be an absolute barn burner. Great match up of styles, both guys who love to fight and love to punch. Would love to see this one, and then see Vic go for the rematch against Donaire (a fight which was actually quite close before the sudden KO).

How do you guys see both of these fights playing out? DO you think Vic has learnt enough to not make the same cocky mistakes?

I think he can take both, but they wont be easy fights.
Arce shouldnt be underestimated though, and Im thinking many people will think it'll be a walk in the park for Vic, but I doubt that'll be the case.

Donaire, I haven't actually seen much of him tbh. I'veonly seen his fight with Vic.
Vic can definitely take him though. He seems like a smarter fighter now, but it still remains to be seen if he can adapt when his opponent is getting the better of him. He didn't need to do this against Mijares, he just done his homework and executed it perfectly.

yes darchinyans performance over mijares was by far the best win of 2008. mijares was suppose to make vic look silly. well vic didn't read the script properly.

Vic vs Arce what a great matchup two little bullies going toe to toe, I don't think Arce has experienced someone like Vic that will do to him what he does to others.
I don't think the Donaire rematch happens but Vic would definatley have chip on his shoulder for this one and you wouldn't want to be Nonito.

I agree.. I just saw the fight tonight. This irritant that is Nonito naire. I hate the way he talks. He said he doesn't need a trainer. He's Filo and all, buh, the guy is arrogant ..I think VIC will get him in a rematch. If not Montiel will.

    :yep

Spot on, and welcome back Jambo. Vic for mine takes both at his best but neither should be underestimated especially Donaire who sylistically has the edge over Vic.

vic will beat anyone in this division imo, vic handed donaire the win by trying to finish early, i think vic at his best will be a stylistic nightmare for donaire, & most other fighters too for that matter, look how he never let mijares get settled, or get in the fight for that matter, donaire may have been better on that particular night, but vic is the way better fighter.

Vic by KO against Arce. With Donaire, it depends which version turns up. He's recently split with his old man apparently. Interesting to see how it all pans out.

After the Mijares fight i would tip vic over both these guys....i am on the vic train :thumbsup

His speed, power, combos and new found waiting game puts him ahead of these guys and all others in his weight.
