I love it when Vic gets really fired up :yep Bad move by Donaire.......... I am really looking forward to this fight. Darchinyan out to punish Donaire Friday Jul 6 17:54 AEST Vic Darchinyan has offered cocky challenger Nonito Donaire an iconic Australian symbol to defend himself against the punishment he can expect in Sunday's boxing world title fight in Connecticut. The Australian flyweight's camp bought him a 14kg wrought-iron helmet of the type worn by Ned Kelly and suggested to Donaire it would prove more practical in absorbing punishment than a mouthguard. American-based Filipino Donaire has annoyed Darchinyan with some disrespectful comments and gestures in the lead-up to the fight. IBF and IBO world champion Darchinyan questioned the sportsmanship of his challenger after remarks Donaire made about the Australian's last opponent Victor Burgos, who required surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain and was put in a medically-induced coma following their fight in California last March. "What kind of talk is that? We are fighters, but we are also sportsmen. "To say something like that only wants to make me punish him more." Donaire, who has a record of 17-1 with 10 KOs, would have to be either exceptionally confident or very stupid as Darchinyan proved against Burgos that he punished disrespectful opponents. Prior to that fight, Burgos upset the Australian by using the infamous slit throat gesture to indicate what he would do to Darchinyan, who handed him a severe beating. Donaire, 24, whose elder brother Glenn lost a world title fight to Darchinyan last year, said the Australian was not invincible. "He hits hard, but so do I. He has skills, but so do I," Donaire said. "I am very relaxed, I have a great game plan, I am very confident I will win." Donaire's comments have given Darchinyan another reason to punish the challenger as the champion is still smarting from his fight against the elder Donaire being recorded as a technical decision, which ended his perfect run of KO victories in world title fights. Glenn Donaire was unable to continue because of a jaw injury, but the fight went to the cards because the referee ruled the injury was caused by a head clash and not a punch. "I wanted to knock him (Nonito) out twice anyway, for the way his brother quit on me and made me win by technical decision instead of knockout," Darchinyan said. "Now I want to knock Nonito out three times, once for Burgos
i think we will win by 20. i still cant believe farah didnt get picked for the blues he is 5 points clear at the top of the dally m points.
I think this could be closely fought up until round 6, or 7. By then Vic's power will have taken it's toll on Donaire. Though I have to say that I don't know much about Donaire, just that he's the better of the two brothers.
I'd prefer him there instead of Gidley (on the bench that is. No way he takes Buderus' #9 jersey). The selectors see Gidley as being a more versatile player, though I think Gidley is overrated.
even put farah at half back he wouldnt be out if place. there is no way kimmorly should be picked there again
Donaire's fast and he's a solid boxer/puncher. Vic will be looking to impose his power on donaire. If he can't stop Nonito he's in for a fight. He'll pay for his lack of defense...
Donaire is a piece of ****, have a go at the part in this interview where he said he would of killed Burgos if it was him instead of Vic, he comes across as if he would be proud if he killed Burgos. http://15rounds.com/boxing/News/2007/07/donaire-070307.php
