One of the reasons a lot of people dont respect him may be down to his character. He is a repulsive human being, and good as a fighter as he may be, being such an unlikeable person gets peoples backs up. They dont want to credit him, and often wont watch his fights. I stopped watching the Arce fight halfway through when it was clear the sleazeball was going to win. When he gets beaten big (Donaire) it's that what sticks out in peoples minds.

What makes you think he was a repulsive human being? Quite a few people seem to quite like him. "Gotta love Vic!" is what comes up in every Darchinyan thread.

if he wants to get the respect he deserves, then he should rematch donaire and avenge his shock KO loss, not hide behind his own promoter's personal grudges.

I agree that because of his "persona" in the media and generally being the bad guy hasn't helped him. But your wrong saying that he is a replusive person. The guy is actually a very likeable person out of the ring and loves being recognised and having time for the fans. I think he gets punished a lot more from that KO loss than others have. Look at Hatton and Cotto. Both get KTFO and this has barely changed people's mind's on their status as P4P fighters.

Personally I think he is great for the sport. Now while I respect the humble and respectful type that never says anything bad about their opponents (like Cotto) but just imagine how BORING it would be if everyone was like that. We need personalities and characters in the sport to keep this sport exciting. There was a reall BUZZ in the Vic-Arce fight and the only reason this was the case was not necessarily for their fighting abilities but for the trash talk pre-fight. And personally I love it. :)

He is not hiding behind his promotors grudges. Since when have u ever see him dodge the question. He is asked about rematching Donaire in every interview and he always says he would love the fight.

Vic said he wanted that fight. Vic is a very entertaining fighter, wish we had more fighters like him. He is all action.
