I read this boxingconfidential.com and then Elias Vic's manager sent a pretty harsh reply. Have a look and see what you guys think. I think this is going to blow up BIG TIME ! !

    Go the BULL !
Raging Fool: Darchinyan's Ethnic Namecalling Deserves Muzzle!

Imagine the outcry if another boxing promoter said that Big Gary Shaw is a disgrace to all Jews.

Imagine the outcry if Omar Sheika, a boxer with Palestinian parentage, called a rival a disgrace to all Israelis.

Imagine the outcry if a boxer blasted Vic Darchinyan saying he’s a disgrace to all Australians in general and to all Aussies with Armenian roots in particular.

Imagine if Manny Pacquiao said he will give Ricky Hatton a beatdown because “those Limeys” are a bunch of colonizing, exploitative MFers.

Imagine if Darchinyan said that Jorge Arce, a Mexican fighter who is a proud warrior, is a disgrace to all Mexicans.

You don’t have to imagine the latter because Darchinyan, or at least his quotemaking publicist Fred Sternburg, has labeled the Lollipop Cowboy as somebody who has shamed his entire nation.

That takes me back to the first one. Imagine if someone said the creative Sternburg was a disgrace to all those of the Hebraic persuasion.

This is the Age of Obama. It’s a time when multiethnic, multiracial people are coming into something approaching widespread societal acceptance.

Hey, what about Darchinyan managerElias Nasser. What is he a disgrace to all Muslims if he is, indeed, a follower of Islam?

You get the point. Hype is hype but the days of race-baiting, nationality-baiting, should be done and gone in boxing circa 2009.

    Let’s draw a distinction.

I see nothing harmful in Sternburg penning a release in which Darchinyan calls Arce “Schlepalong Cassidy,” although I bet Darchinyan never heard the Yiddish term “schlepper” in his 33 years of life.

And boasting is fine also, having Vicious Vic say he likes fighting Mexicans “because of the way they bounce off the canvas.” I don’t see that type of braggadocio inflaming ethnic dislike or hatred.

But a line has to be drawn.

Darchinyan’s “Raging Bull” persona fits his aggressive ring style. But it does the fighter and boxing a disservice when he is portrayed as a Raging Bullshitter who insults entire countries or ethnicities.

No one is saying to get rid of the Mexican flag or the Armenian flag. No one is saying that stirring up national passion behind a boxer is a bad thing. Personally, I get a chill when I see a fight ushered into the ring by the wail of makestic bagpipes or a terrific mariachi group.

What I am saying is that I don’t see King Arthur Abraham, an Armenian fighting and living in Germany, calling Edison Miranda is a disgrace to every man, woman and child from Colombia.

For those of you who think this kind of namecalling is funny or amusing, get back to me the day after someone gets stabbed or shot at ringside.

Check soccer and its flag-waving hooligans and lager louts if you want examples of where excessive nationalism or insulting other nationalities has gotten way out of hand.

Let Darchinyan insult and belittle Arce all he wants. That’s mere puffery.

But going beyond that is an invitation to outside the ring violence.

This was Elias Nasser's reply to Michael Marley

Darchinyan Manager.: Muzzle Won't Fit But He'll Smash Arce Like Housefly &

He Charges Marley In Bed With Top Rank

ELIAS NASSAR LETTER TO MYSELF (Michael Marley)

    Dear Mr Marley

My name is Elias Nassar and I am the manager of Vic Darchinyan.

I awoke this morning to read your latest story about The Raging Fool.

I am somewhat shocked and dismayed to how you have reached this conclusion in your story that has been greatly sensationalized by yourself. You have basically edited three years of media commentary and comments from both camps and put together a story that now places you at the top echelon of writers that need to sensationalize a story to make a name for themselves.

I don't need to explain the actions or the comments of my fighter. He is within his right to comment on and make statements about Jorge Arce, when the latter and his management have commented on Vic Darchinyan himself, his family and his persona in general. If you as professional boxing journalist have now resorted to pleasing warring factions behind the scenes to gain future favors is indeed your perogative, but please don't bring in my fighter nor myself into this forum you have chosen to make a name for yourself. I was taught growing up that there were two topics that shouldn't be discussed with uncertainty, they are politics and religion.

You have brought religion into a discussion over boxing ? No matter how you were trying to express your point of view in this story, for no reason what so ever should religion have been brought into this argument. It is a destructive & decisive tool when it is discussed in this context.

I have enjoyed your website and video commentary in the past, as I have always seen your media outlet as having its finger on the pulse for boxing news, but to bring Gary Shaw and Fred Sternburg into your argument is also very wrong, why not bring in Top Rank and Fernando Beltran, who have also made comments on Vic's persona and place yourself in a impartial position, it now seems to myself that you may be pedaling a one sided hidden agenda.

Reporting on boxing stories and developments is one thing, reporting on propaganda and sensational topics, and should be left in the boxing forums where the everyday person can comment their point of view.

Needless to say to categorize anyone as a, Jew or Muslim or Christian is very offending and also distasteful when you don't even know me or what religion I may be.

In the end religion should not be even mentioned in sport for whatever reason, full stop.

Arce could have responded to everything that has been said in the press conference that was held last week, the same press conference my fighter traveled 4 hours from Las Vegas to LA to attend.

Also, unfortunately the muzzle that you kindly sent to Vic does not fit, please don't be offended that I send it back to its rightful owner. Also, you will be hearing more comments as we approach this bout. The loudest comment will occur when Jorge Arce is knocked out come February 7th.

    Regards
    Elias Nassar

IBF/WBC/WBA champion Vic Darchinyan (31-1-1, 25 KOs), of Sydney, Australia pokes fun at his opponent Jorge “Travieso” Arce (51-4-1, 39 KOs), who was unable to attend the press conference at the Wilshire Grand, downtown L.A., today, hyping their February 7 Showtime-televised fight.

Unable to attend, Arce sent Darchinyan a pair of eggs — “huevos” — to help him in the ring February 7. Darchinyan, supported by promoter Gary Shaw, turned it around, saying the eggs were laid by “Chicken” Arce.

Just normal banter, it's no big deal.

It's nowhere near the "I'll eat his children" comments

Sort it out in the ring, that's what it is for - media sensationalising.

i think vic wants to punish him, but with his speed & power he might end it early without realising, he will have to be careful though, but if he sticks to his game, i done see arce having much more than a punchers chance.
