Typical ESB...so many threads from both sides after a fight... about how Mijares was overrated and so on.. And show respect to Mijares blah blah blah..he had the wrong plan, that he didnt plan on getting hit on the chin

Vic was just the better fighter. He is a better fighter. After watching tonights fight, Vic basically schooled Mijares..he outboxed him, outsmarted him and really he made Mijares looked slow as a turtle tonight. This is what happens when one steps up in competition, and Vic certainly was a step up from what Mijares has been fighting lately.

and if you know their respective resumes and level of competition.. Vics ahead by miles.

There was no surprise tonight, unless you "overrated" Mijares...Vics the better fighter and he was underrated by some

He's too fast and strong for mijares.

Mijares did a good job against arce coz he doesn't have the speed and power that vic had.

Vic was a better fighter on the night, for whatever reasons, but I still rate Mijares higher in his ability.

I agree, Vic was simply better. I am eager to see a rematch between vic and donaire or a bout vs fernando montiel would also be great.

At the lower weights, fighters lose all the time. Mijarez and Vic already had loses on their resumes. It is expected at those weights. There is no ducking, just fighters.

I think half of these guys ripping Mirajes to shreds probably did the same thing to Vic when he lost to Donaire.

    ****ers.

Take it easy buddy... Mijares is far from finished at this point. He should gain more from this loss than any other fight in his career. Vic was totally in control throughout the fight. A very good demonstration of boxing. Im fully in support of Vic..... although, if a rematch clause is in the contract, there is potentially a different outcome. Vic is 32y/o.... anything can happen. On this day, Vic kicked arse, and well done. Hopefully he will move up and have a shot at some Bantams or S/Bantams. He deserves to make some serious dollars.

How so? Because he looked slicker? Besides Vic being the faster and stronger man, he also outjabbed Mijares tonight, showed tremendous angles, feints and slick defense.

Its because weve been watching Mijares against low level competition who he can impose his jab and lenght all night. When the competition steps up a notch, you cant do those things. Vic has faced the best out there.

thats the truth. both guys woul'nt be where they are if they did'nt compete at a highlevel. vic just came out with some fantastic stuff tonight. this is coming from some one who thouight darchinyan would be shut out. the underrating of darchinyan was in some ways to discredit donaire as well.

I guess because most people here arent risk takers by personality, they seem to favor technicality over willpower. Thats why when they're favorite technical fighters lose to someone who doesnt resemble their ideal fighter, they get the shock of their lives. Fact is, Unorthodox fighters, even with their lack of technicality, have will powers that will overcome skills. Its how people get impressed more.

What Mijares do in the future has no bearing, he may win the belt again. But Vic showed hes slightly above Mijares class. And if he does lose a rematch because Vic might be getting up there in years, then Id remember Vics prime, and in his prime he was better than Mijares

I think this win by Vic looks really good on Donaire's record, who basically demolished him.

It pisses me off, happens after every big fight, these bandwagon jumpers are weak. I respect a guy like you who sticks with thier guy through the wins and losses. They will never get the same level of satisfaction as a fan who stays with their guy.
