Round 1 Jabs by Escobedo. Ruiz rushes in and tries to pepper the body. Escobedo lands some counter rights - straights and uppercuts. Ruiz puts up a high jab and leans in against Escobedo's guard. Ruiz is reaching out and trying to hammer the body, but Escobedo is getting his elbows spread out and backing up, lining up flush counters to the face. Escobedo favoring the uppercut. Round 2 Escobedo is backed up by the wild overhand windmilling pressure of the smaller man, but starts to line up some BEAUTIFUl counter uppercuts and hooks!! Ruiz is eating some giant shots, but keeps pushing his way in. Every time Escobedo lands a pair of power punches it seems Ruiz is going to either back off or even fall down...but he gathers himself and presses forward again every time. Excellent display of savage offense by Chente, and huge showing of heart and chin by Ruiz. Body shots by Ruiz. Escobedo covers up against the ropes, catching lower shots on his elbows and keeping his fists in front of his face as Ruiz brings the attack up. Hard counter 1-2 by Escobedo circling around Ruiz. Clinch, and Ruiz grinds his shaggy mane up into Escobedo's armpit. Break. Wild left uppercut by Ruiz misses. Clubbing overhand right lands. Escobedo lands a power combo on him. Round 3 Escobedo lands some FLUSH uppercuts, but Ruiz won't stop dogging him. Escobedo backs up and plants his jab on Ruiz's face. Ruiz leans in and hacks at the body, but gets ROCKED back by a right with sweat flying out of his curly locks and into the seventh row. BIG UPPERCUTS by Escobedo. Hooks to the head by Escobedo. Ruiz keeps throwing body shots and pushing Escobedo to the ropes. Right hand over the top by Ruiz, caught on Escobedo's shoulder. Excellent infighting by Escobedo, against a little machine! Round 4 Big hooks by Escobedo after taking sliding steps back to set up and putting all his weight into them. Ruiz is getting hit FULL FORCE in the face and marching through it, chipping away at the body little by little. This is madness. Escobedo now lands some hooks to the body. Ruiz keeps pressing in against him, punching nonstop. Escobedo hammers him with a right across the back and then tries to put the squeeze on him. Escobedo is wondering wtf he has to do to this guy. More FLUSH hooks to the face by Escobedo. Ruiz seems slightly wobbled! Just for an instant. Ruiz again leans in and lands body shots. Round 5 HUGE shots landed regularly by Escobedo. Claudia Torres and the other commentator are rendered speechless for periods, yelling "wow" involuntarily at others. Escobedo's fists just do not stop caroming off Ruiz's invincible skull. Meanwhile Ruiz is putting in his own solid work, hooking the body. Neither man can affect the other with a punch, and these are NOT powder puffs. You can HEAR the impact of Escobedo's head shots and Ruiz's body blows. Hard frenetic pace, bell to bell.
