Round 1

Big combo early from Gutierrez, a long whipping right hand and left hook. Arenas is forced to back up to the ropes and then dive in to hold. Aggressive jabbing up top by Gutierrez, as Arenas tries to circle out to the left and get in rhythm with lead rights to the body. Gutierrez is scoring with jabs but missing the mark with his slapping rights, mostly just catching Arenas on the cheek with the palm of his gloves in a cuffing motion as Arenas bobs his head. Lots of clinching, with Arenas tying up and twisting Gutierrez's arms behind him. BIG COMBO BY ARENAS! Gutierrez is on the ropes, getting nailed! Hooks and rights!

Wow, what a turnaround. I think Gutierrez was more hurt in that final twenty seconds than Arenas was early. I think Jhonatan even stole the round despite having lost over two minutes of it.

10-9 Arenas

 

Round 2

Clinch. Both men slap forthright out at each other with wide shots while tucking their chins and pointing their faces at the floor, the tips of their crowns bumping. Wide, slow shots from Gutierrez. Arenas is moving back and slipping them but not countering. Gutierrez leans on him and muscles him back across the ring. Jab by Gutierrez. Jab to the guard, and a soft right to the body by Arenas. High left jabs by Arenas backing up, just flicking them up into Gutierrez's guard. WILD uppercut by Gutierrez as Arenas is bent over in front of him, missing as Arenas snaps up straight. Jab by Gutierrez. Clinch.

Round 3

Long reaching left hook to the body by Arenas. Gutierrez tries to jab him in the head on the way in. He keeps missing, so Arenas keeps tilting in and hooking low and wide. Finally Gutierrez connects with a glancing uppercut and Arenas rethinks the strategy of just diving in every few seconds. Gutierrez lands some jabs and backs Arenas up. Clinch. Arenas circles to his right, springing at the knees. Wild left hook by Arenas. Gutierrez lunges across the ring with a body hook, and Arenas skitters back out of the way. Right hand by Arenas while circling. Gutierrez is missing all his jabs as Arenas spies them inbound and ducks them. Wild hook by Arenas pushing Gutierrez to the ropes.

29-28 Arenas

 

Round 4

Gutierrez leans into Arenas trying to clinch and winds up just getting a face full of lefts and rights as Arenas turns his shots inward and takes the requisite short steps back to land on the sides of his head. Gutierrez is backed up but regains his composure and gets his defenses up. Push/clinch. Gutierrez jabs. They lean together again and both tap at the body and softly on each other's temples. Big left hook to the body by Arenas. Another, that one hurt. Gutierrez shoeshines back to the belly, unbowed. Soft overhand right by Gutierrez, caught between the neck and shoulder of Arenas and shrugged/chin-thrusted away. Gutierrez comes in with a wild attack, swinging overhands and backing Arenas to the ropes but only hitting him in the back as he ducks.

39-37 Arenas

 

Round 5

Gutierrez is clapping down with lefts and rights while Arenas leans back, slips, and jabs. Nice pull counter right by Arenas. Gutierrez is falling in with his overhands and then trying to work uppercuts when leaned up close. Arenas is making him miss most everything with movement and quick ducks in (usually punctuated by briefly grabbing). Gutierrez lands a few flush jabs on the outside, as Arenas takes aim with some big right hands over the top. Arenas is bombing away, ignoring the few jabs coming back, and has Gutierrez on the ropes. He smothers him and is pulled off by Mr. Padilla. All Arenas in the final twenty seconds.

49-46 Arenas

 

Round 6

Gutierrez jabs high and misses. Arenas falls in with lead rights and braces against Gutierrez to bounce back outside before he can get slapped on the top/back of the head. Nice stiff left jab by Arenas from the outside. Now Arenas tucks his forearms up in front of his face and just leans forward all the way inside, not punching before backing out. Wasteful movements. Arenas seems to be testing the waters a lot, seeing what he can get away with. Jabs on the outside by Arenas. Gutierrez still can't locate Arenas with his own high jab on the outside, unable to find the moving target. Suddenly Gutierrez is down on his knees from a left hook on the inside, and not looking likely to get up...
