Know next to nothing about him, but I'm curious.

During his "first" career, he was more or less undefeated.

Sole loss was an early career DQ, which he avenged with a knockout.

He retired, came back a few years later, and was beaten by two fighters. Shibata and Jofre.

So is the claim that Jofre has no good fighters on his resume crap?

Was Saldivar just too far gone for it to matter?

Vicente Saldivar(along with guys like Ruben Olivares and Eder Jofre) are at the top of my list of fighters that serious fans were screwed out of watching on television;they should've been household names.

Yes it is. Jofre fought quite a few good fighters: Ernesto Miranda, Jose Medel, Pierro Rollo, Eloy Sanchez, Sadao Yaoita, Johnny Caldwell, Herman Marques, Katsutoshi Yaoki, Johnny Jamito, Bernado Caraballo etc.

No great amongst that lot, but quite a few fine fighters.

Losing 2 close decisions as he did to Harada also says a lot about him, given how great Harada was, and how Jofre was not at his absolute best.

Pretty much. It did have some significance, but it wasn't of ultimate significance to Jofre's legacy. All things considered though (Jofre being way past his prime himself) it was an impressive win.

Saldivar, although a southpaw fighter, was apparently right-handed.
