Aside from "The Flash/King" Ryan García, this is, to my knowledge, the only person to beat Vergil Ortíz Jr. twice in the amateurs. He debuted to relatively little fanfare the same year as García, Ortíz, and Teófimo López - and since has remained under the radar (only signing with a major promoter, GBP, in his second-to-last fight in late 2019), quietly building a 14-0 record.

There isn't a whole lot of footage of him in the pros, accordingly. What there is, shows a doubtless talented fighter but one that still retains some amateurish foibles that will need to be ironed out as he steps up in class. It will be interesting to see how much time Golden Boy actually invest or where he fits in their hierarchy of priorities, given the lip service they paid to his potential upon snatching him up. If he lives up to half of it, he could be the first boxer in a while to put his native Washington state (hailing from the Vancouver in the US, a five hour drive south of its more famous Canadian namesake) on the map - those parts having little to celebrate beyond the days of Haugen & Lockridge.
