Bob Foster was unbeatable when he was in his prime as World Light Heavyweight Champion, 1968-1974. As a matter of fact, Victor Galindez was mandatory WBA challenger for Foster when he retired. Vicious Victor was one tough fighter, quick left hook and good combination puncher. His weakness was the scar tissue around his eyebrows. Bob would exploit this with his sharp fast left jab, meant to keep Victor at bay. Victor would get in some shots to Foster's ribs, hurting him. Bob's movement and slashing punches will open cuts above both of Galindez's eyes by round 6, to force a TKO stoppage. These are both fighters in their respective primes.

On a side note, they were actually scheduled to fight. Galindez was to defend against Foster in '77. Of course, at this stage of the game Galindez would have ruined old Bob. But it was to be televised and I know I would have been watching had it come off. Apparently this is what happened to the non-fight:

"On May 28, 1977 Galindez was scheduled to defend his title in South Africa against former light heavyweight champ Bob Foster. However, as a provision for CBS televising the bout, Foster was under contract to submit to a medical examination supervised by a boxing commission from Nevada, California or New York. Foster refused and the bout - for which he was set to receive $70,000 - was cancelled on April 22. Foster's manager, Billy Edwards, claimed that he cancelled the bout because Foster wasn't in shape and that his training had not developed as planned."

Galindez lies on the ropes and fights bravely and makes Foster looks bad early on (rounds 1,2) but he's also broken down at the same time and come round 3,4 Foster is landing huge punches on Galindez and in round 5 I think he'd throw his right hand then after Galindez dodges it he snaps his brutal left hook. Fight Over.

PvP Foster wins, most likely on cuts.
I've always heard that Galindez was supposed to be Foster's opponent instead of Ahumada in June 74 (closed circuit undercard to Frazier-Quarry 2.)...although Joe/Jerry fought first with the time zone difference.
Jorge gave an aging Bob more than he bargained for that night; with Victor's success against Jorge in earlier fights, were it Victor that fought in NM that night, we...(maybe) could have had a different result.
    Just speculating...:)
I remember Jorge (thru an interpreter) saying after he fought Bob saying: "A draw here is like a win to me!"

    Prime Foster stops Galindez.

Foster's jab alone would tear Galindez's face to ribbons.

I dont think Galindez goes as easily as the above posts have it going. Much tougher fight IMO

Victor Galindez was Bob Foster's mandatory WBA challenger, John Conteh, was Bob's mandatory WBC challenger. Conteh outpointed Jorge Ahumada on Oct 1 1974, in 15 rounds to become WBC World Light Heavyweight Champion Victor Galindez, stopped Len Hutchins in 12 rounds to become the WBA Light Heavyweight Champion, on Dec 7 1974. Foster retired stating, It Is Hard To Satisfy The WBA And The WBC, Too Much Of A Mental Thing.

Foster is very overrated. Hugely so. Good power, good jab, but not at all impressed with his resume. An ancient Tiger fighting out of his best weight and physically overmatched. Rondon, who was nothing. Not much else really. I think Galindez could get to him.

I'm thinking Galindez could get him too. I'm leaning towards Victor.

Foster reasonably comfortably. His length and horrible jab set the pace and he has all that insane power and snap behind him as well.

Foster, his jab being the key.Galindez liked to come off the ropes with two handed flurries, tough man with power ,but he had a tendency to cut and Bob was a sharp shooter ,with two handed power.

Victor wouldnt have the scar tissue in his prime. That came w Kates and after that fight Victor actually fought differently.

I liked watching Galindez he was tough, but in this fight he is outskilled and out powered, I think it will go longer than some think with Galindez staying on his stool after the 13th round.
