At the risk of sounding controversial..with all the Toney fans here in this forum that bestow on him the mantle of "master supreme"..I agree with you..and the fact that Victor was a very patient counterpuncher with sneaky power to make things interesting.
And yes, I'm a Toney fan, I love slick boxers, but Victor was a very smart boxer, and yes, patience would pay off, wouldn't waste punches, but would have a high workrate, I just think he's all wrong for Tony. But I'd love to see how he reacted to Tony's trash talk
The language barrier would come in handy for Galindez..I think there would be some mutual respect, relatively speaking..and for the sake of macho, he would probably have something interesting Spanish to say in return to Toney..it would be interesting to say the least. Galindez was a cleverer fighter than he's given credit for sometimes. He was also a master of the 15 round distance..he had a bunch of 15 rounders under his belt.
Toney hasn't seen anything quite like Victor in his career (no active fighter has), and Galindez wouldn't be bothered by Toney's chin or defensive skills, instead winging body shots off the ropes. Close UD decision for Victor here in what would probably be a slowish match.
I think Toney would have won this fight on points. I would have been close, but Toney was just too slick to lose.
Both men leaning against the ropes on opposite sides of the ring waiting for their opponent to come at 'em :-(
Galindez would have had a great chance of outpointing Toney..Victor was as dedicated a counterpuncher as Toney and he was very strong..a lot cleverer than his image might have indicated.
