Both men at their very best..It's 15 rounds, in a neutral site, for the lightheavy title at stake. Your opinions.
Galindez has a better track record at LtHvy than Moorer... to consider. But southpaw Marvin Johnson K.O.'ed Galindez. Moorer by shocking K.O in 9th round, after being behind....and Teddy Atlas goes ape sh!t.
This I can agree with, but I think Galindez could take this over 15. He was nails, and I think he could control the pace here. Problem for both guys is switching off but this was less of an issue for Moorer at light heavy. His opposition was generally woeful there though, and I can see Galindez pulling it out of his ass late.
My issue with Moorer is he is completely unproven at LHW but we have seen his skills showcased in the HW division and as such I think we can join the dots somewhat. how many LHW's could stand up to his best shots? his main attributes for me were his handspeed, combo punching and jab. his main weakness is his durability and his lazy attitude to coast some rounds (he should have had holy out of there in the first fight) whilst the handspeed won't be as big an advantage the chin won't be as big a disadvantage (I use chin as a broad label I'm talking about the combination of factors that lead to how well a guy can recover from a big ****). there is ever chance he switches off here against victor and gets outboxed, but i think there's a bigger chance that in some of the rounds he lets his hands go and punishes galindez. i take a competitive fight won by stoppage.
Galindez could also coast but trust me mate, if Moorer wants to break out Galindez, a master hooker, strong and well-schooled Argie stocky type, can hang with him.
Galindez would introduce Moorer to the canvas at some time or another and dominate him the rest of the way for a unanimous decision. Moorer's competition sucked basically, and Galindez was a tried and true top class champion..even if he did win most of his defenses by decisions..some of them razor close. The Argie could fight all night long and would hurt Moorer. Moorer, on ther other hand woulod be perplexed that Victor wouldn't keel over and die like all the no-hopers that he was accustomed to fighting. Chalk up yet another 15 round decision to Victor Galindez. Not as exciting as MM perhaps, but far tougher, cagier and a better fighter.He would counter Moorer all night long.
