Haven't done any of these hypothetical fight threads for some time....so, who do ya have here? 15 rounds of course, as all title fights, real or fictional should be.
Galindez was never given his due because he was overshadowed in Argentina by Monzon. He was not a big puncher but fought in the toughest era of 175 lbs and still managed to be 2 x Champion and his first reign lasted 4 yrs. He held victories in his prime over Eddie Mustafa Muhummad and Yaqui Lopez. The Johnson southpaw fight he was past his prime. Never saw Moorer fight the calibre opponents of Galindez at LHW. So have to go with the Argentina strongman on pts.
Going against the grain. Galindez could be hit and Moorer is going to hit him and hit him hard. I got Moorer in an upset
I have no idea but I only discovered Galindez a few years ago. Really liked watching him fight. Man that was a great time for the light heavies!! Galindez seemed pretty tough from the few fights I've seen. Moorer had power & although his chin wasn't very good, I don't remember seeing him hurt as a light heavyweight.
Interesting match and one that can be debated either way. Moorer really doesn't have much at all behind him at 175 but we know he had extreme power and we all saw how he did at Heavyweight. I'd lean toward Moorer by stoppage but it's as much about what he did at Heavy as 175. Moorer is mostly unproven at 175 but that i guess doesn't mean he wouldn't have been able to excel. It just involves a bit of a leap.
Galindez V moorer.. What a delicious meet up. Galindez proved him self over better opposition but moorer looked the more fearsome and dangerous. I see moorer hurting Galindez very quickly, till the point where the ref nearly dives in, but he survive s to come back. He digs his feet in and starts to nail moorer. As the fight heads in to the second half victor pours the heat on and moorer look s the worst for wear. He ll drop moorer several times in the 11 th round until the refs seen enough.
I'd go with Vic late. Pretty typical fashion for Galindez in that it's no easy fight. And he gets hit some and likely busted up from those accurate hands of MM. But Galindez does what he always did and hangs tough. And that explosion off the ropes thing of his when he'd sucker the other guy into thinking he was in trouble. MM is right in front of him & I think he eats a big shot and goes in like the 13th round of a tough tough fight. But that's all Galindez had anyway & was kind of like that other old tough champ, Eusabio Pedroza.
I see Galindez overhauling an early Moorer points lead and wearing his man down late. A fight between Victor and John Conteh would have been excellent.
Over a ten rounder, Moorer. Over 15 Galindez is just too tough and relentless for Moorer. He probably stops him late.
Yes, I think Galindez would beat him in a similar way that he beat Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, only Moorer wasn't as good as EMM...not even remotely, I don't care what his reputation was as a puncher at 175. Victor would play his counterpunching game to the hilt, and send Michael to the deck numerous times but would let it go to a decision. Galindez was no stranger to the 15 round distance and would win a comfortable points decision or maybe even a late rounds stoppage.
Galindez-Conteh was one of those matches that I really wish they could have made Stevie...and I may be at odds with you here, but I've always fancied Galindez to win closely on points.
I've always been a fan of Galindez mate,...when he modified his style so drastically after clobbering Len Hutchins to win the title, and became an expert counter punching navigator of the 15 round distance, i realized that Victor wasn't merely a bomb throwing caveman as he appeared to be vs Hutchins, but he had the smarts to go with that bullish strength that he had....and calculated those points wins quite well.
