Doing the rounds on X atm. Obviously could just be a natural reaction to seeing a lad get knocked out, maybe someone he knows well.

But he scored the first seven rounds for Simpson.

Whatever it is, he should at least come out and give an explanation.

I hate the fact that as boxing fans we see things like the WBC rankings, dodgy scorecards, premature stoppages and now this, but we will forget about it and move on when the next big fight comes around.
A global governing body that everyone has to answer to isn't the solution for everything, but you'd hope it would be able to keep some of the corruption at bay. That will never happen though, boxing is and always will be corrupt.

Can say hand on heart and I've known plenty of pro boxers over the decades.

If you are the away fighter, right hand side of the bill unless the promoter is looking to cash out the house fighter , you are minimal 2 rds down on cards before the opening bell.

That didn't look good TW v CS.

Said for years that this cannot be explained by incompetence when some of these people have been referees and judges for 20 years.

The John McDermott v Tyson Fury 1 referee scoring that fight has had many shockers over the years.

There is never any accountability or anything done to these people.

Nothing worse when a boxer is done on the cards when a clear winner.

The Governance of boxing is very poor and will be even worse with the Saudi Loot in the sport.

Trying to come up with an innocent explanation, I think this was the fourth and final KD of the round; perhaps Loughlin, a fellow ref, was possibly exasperated with the ref letting this fight go on for too long after Simpson was clearly out of it (I recognise this opens a can of worms in itself, as the Ref clearly didn't want to stop the fight in Williamson's favour, and if the roles were reversed the fight would have been stopped much earlier in the round for Simpson).

Ultimately though with this sort of thing nothing can be proved or inferred from a simple gesture like this by one of the judges. The fact Simpson was up on the cards at the time is something that is part of the record, and the judges can be held to account and asked to justify scorecards so patently incorrect; if we are to move to a cleaner and fairer sport, this is one of the areas to focus on.

I liked these guys on MMA but can't stand them on boxing they are just doing it to cash in. There knowledge is very limited and they slip up often, especially Nick Peet.

Judges are not allowed to bet on any fighters including any of the fights they are scoring.

I think this merits some forensic analysis of betting patterns to find anyone connected to him, who has had a punt on Simpson.

That is not a normal reaction.

When you think back, Vic was ref for Nick Blackwell v Eubank and when Mikey Towell died. That must have affected him massively.

He must now hate seeing boxers take unnecessary shots and if you look at him before the knockdown, you see him, mouth open, feeling every punch. I agree with @worzel here

Terry O'Connor the A STAR ref :ohno had Fury winning 98-92, one of the worst cards I've seen in British boxing tbh it was fairytale judging his card was was decided before the opening bell, scandalous.
