Victor has been one of the best referee's and judges over the last 10 years or more, I personally had Darryl just nick the fight but lets be honest this is getting blown out of proportion. He lost the 1st 2 and tired badly in the last 3/4 where he stalked Zach but did nothing of real note so it was always going to be a close decision. Do I think Victor had an off night? yes but I can forgive him one bad night after all the times he has got it spot on
Forgein judges tend to see things differently from uk judges, of coarse the shouldn’t but like me and you we see things differently, it’s allowed
It’s not only Loughlin Steve Gray also had it unbelievably for Parker he should be called before the board as well
I wouldn't expect you to tell the truth on here in full public view, but you shouldn't chat shite either. Would you be happy if you were him ??
You can forgive him for having an off night? Can Darryl? Probably his one and only time he would have been British champion.
Billy as a trainer I would expect you to be on the boxers side, not the suits. All I can say is if what we saw from Victor loughlin is the work of one of the best..... I'd hate to see the work if one of the worst!!
I couldn't put it any better myself. Trainers especially should have a gripe with this more than us. Perhaps he thinks Vic is reading these forums, I don't know !
Yes I can forgive him for that, ok his card was a little wider than one of the others but if he thought Zach won by 1 point or 5 at the end of the day Darryl would still have lost. I think that people are blowing this out of proportion tbh and it wasn't that long ago people were saying that Victor was the best referee in the UK. I hear what you are saying about Darryl but I would like to think that he will be given a rematch, it was a close fight and he deserves another shot but the injury happened in the 2nd round so I would expect a fully fit Zach to beat him much more convincingly. As I said I think too much people are jumping on the Victor Loughlin scorecard and the fact is that if he had scored it 115-113 there wouldn't be any outcry at all, everyone would be starting threads saying how brave Zach was for winning British title with one hand
Any referee/judge who doesn't either play with his either when he's announced or say 'I am the weferee' is okay by me.
Victor Loughlin also was the judge who scored it 118-110 for Josh Taylor when he fought Viktor Postol. Which was another hideous scorecard of his. Keep an eye on him. He really is handing out some stinkers...
I've edited your post to the relevant parts. The issue you miss is that the whole point of raising this is precisely because he didn't score it by a round. He handed in an enormously one-sided card which suggests incompetence at best. It's a similar situation to the first Alvarez Golovkin fight. If you had it narrowly to Alvarez that's not really a big deal. But suggesting a whitewash simply cannot accurately reflect the fight that took place. I'm not saying Victor Laughlin is corrupt by the way. I'm a lot more convinced that a combination between a misunderstanding of the difficulties of scoring, the scoring system in the sport, some personal bias and an off night can all combine to produce a stinking card. But a stinker it is.
This is it really. It's ok for us to say, refs have a bad day etc but them lads have trained damned hard to come in for the fight. Then the L puts em back so much.
