Ortiz gets crushed by Canelo. I'd probably favor a peak Paul Williams over Canelo, though.

True, Canelo does not pressure like the stereotypical Mexican fighter
but he also showed skills not demonstrated by the stereotypical Mexican fighter. Based on what we saw this weekend, he can still beat a top notch fighter without fighting 3/12.

That says a lot about his skills.

Williams's work rate would have given Canelo fits.

Ortiz on the other hand would not have had enough,I'd pick Canelo to knock him out.

What "prime" Williams are we talking about? The one who got schooled by Quintana? Or the one who got raped twice against Martinez? Ortiz???:rofl

The version of Williams that would have fought Canelo was not a prime Williams, it was a post-Martinez KO and post-Lara beatdown Williams. Still, he was the worst style matchup for Canelo at 154 so it would have been a grueling fight no doubt, but he had a lot of wear and tear at that point and with his almost nonexistent defense I don't think he would have gone the distance with Canelo.

Ortiz shouldn't even be mentioned as a legit opponent for Canelo at 154.

Carlos who is not better than Canelo beat up Paul William easy.
Canelo who has more power in his punches than Carlos
would have ko William about the same way that Martinez did.
Ortiz proved to have a glass chin against Floyd. Canelo
    would ko him too.

Canelo doesn't have the workrate or the stamina to stay with Williams for a full 12 rounds. Williams would just keep coming at Canelo all night long. By the 10th round Canelo would be tired as hell and wouldn't offer much resistance and get overwhelmed. Williams would outwork him to a UD win. A prime Paul Williams was a stylistic nightmare for most to deal with volume punching great chin and ATG stamina Canelo would be no different.:deal

the punisher before he got koed would have gave canelo hell in the ring. that version of paul good take it and give it. that would have been a pick em fight for me. i think canelo would have stopped victor in shoot out.

Not the Williams he was gonna fight. The Williams he was going to fight was a completely past it version and would have possibly been stopped by Canelo.

A prime Williams would have a great chance at stopping Canelo though.
