April 16th, two combatants faced off in a Welterweight battle which was to prove who would attain the WBC World championship and solidify themselves as a force in the Welterweight division. Andre Berto, the world champion, came in with an undefeated record of 28-0 with 22 of them wins coming by way of knockout. Berto, known for his punching power and dynamic aggressive style was a strong favorite, as the opponent, Victor Ortiz, who came in with a 29-2-2, had previously been in struggles in the Light-Welterweight Division, where he had scored a draw in his previous fight to Lamont Peterson and was stopped by Marcos Maidana, a crude banger, earlier on. Berto, who was coming off an impressive first round knockout of Freddy Hernandez, was strongly touted to stop the young and supposedly fragile Ortiz, but this was not the story.

On the memorable date of April 16, both fighters stood off, a fight which showed us courage, will, hunger and the determination of two fighters who were not willing to let the other man past their doorway. The roller-coaster of a fight gave us excitement, drama and a memory of a war which will remain in our memories for a long time. Through the blood, sweat and tears of the fight, Victor Ortiz came through major adversity where he was hurt and out on his feet, to command respect of the brave fighter in front of him and score a unanimous decision in which proved to be an enthralling fight.

NOW, on February 11th, the same two warriors meet for the second time in a fight which will either give us 'repeat or revenge'. Since the two had their
captivating battle, Victor Ortiz has gone on to battle P4P king, Floyd Mayweather, where he shamefully came short, whereas Andre Berto went on to face rugged Jan Zaveck for the IBF crown, where he scored a 5th round technical decision. Both fighters, again at the crossroads point of their careers will give it their 110%, knowing that this will either make or break them. One thing for sure we can expect is another see-saw battle where only ONE can come through victorious.

Looking forward to fight even though Nevada may not let him (Ortiz) have license they will probably buckle to $$$$.

  4. Why might Ortiz not get a licence?

I'd like Berto to spark him, the sport is better off without the likes of Ortiz.

I think Berto knocks him out this time. He won't rush in this time ( if he took his time in the 6th, Ortiz would have been KO'ed).

Ortiz still had those question marks above him IMO, and he will be exposed mentally again.
