Victor Ortiz is Floyd's first veteran vs. young lion test

Putting what on the line? Floyd is not the world ww champion. He retired over a year ago.

If Floyd took this fight as a tune up fine, but the only person he should be fighting is Pacquiao. Period.

 

we still have to remember that ortiz lost/quit vs. maidana who was then defeated by khan.

it therefore would've been better if floyd fought khan instead. that will still be a veteran vs. young lion test.

 

Khan is kinda fighting at 140

 

khan can easily move up to 147. he certainly has the height and build to do so.

and the bradley fight seems to be not happening... khan already said that he wants to fight mayweather so he really has plans to go up to 147.

 

I'm not sure that Khan is willing to risk another loss at this point. Moreover everyone was going to bash Floyd for fighting JWW. As Ortiz fan I'm worried about this fight happening at this point. He could take a bad beating sustained beating against Floyd

 

so ortiz beating andre berto makes him a young lion now? this would be another easy fight for floyd. floyd should fight a true lion in pacquiao.

Ortiz is not considered a contender in the 140 class and is surdenly not in the 147 division. Ortiz will lose to the first real ww contender there is. He got way to many technical flaws

And call Mayweather vs Ortiz a good fight is allmost blasphemy. Mayweather will not lose a single round its a total mismatch

 

The two scenarios are incomparable.

• Floyd isn't as reliant on his physical gifts as Roy Jones was. He has far more sound fundamentals in his game - especially in the defensive department.
• Floyd did not pack on 20+ pounds of muscle in his last fight for him to now sweat off.

Yes, Floyd of Mosley is different to the Floyds of Judah and Corrales, but that's to be expected. Slowing down and becoming less active, is the only thing that can happen to a fighter. But in doing so, you need to look at the way he's adapted his game. That's what makes Floyd so great. Unlike the Roy Jones' of this world, Floyd's mastered the ability to achieve the same by doing less. He's very economical with his work. He's proven this in his fights with JMM and Mosley, and he'll prove it again against Ortiz. He'll pot shot his way to an easy UD.
