I think he could become like Oscar. A star who comes up short in his big fights. He doesn't strike me as one of those elite of the elite skill guys whenever I watch him fight.

Victor Ortiiz has got "DOG" in him.
    That stuff doesnt go away.
    Not impressed.
Just a matter of time before he gets knocked out or quits again.

oh yeah skill wise no! But he is non-threatening, nice and likable. He has more of a fan friendly style, and his team probably don't want to put him in with elite(pacquiao mayweather) just yet.

Oscar has always been greater, he was elite. He got ripped on the Trinidad fight, won one of the Mosley ones, and simply didn't belong at middle. One of the issues that affected his success, IMO, is long inactivity and not dedicating himself entirely to boxing.

Actually, Victor reminds me more of Fernando Vargas in terms of ability.

He beat a very one dimensional fighter in Andre Berto. I thought he would take care of him a lot easier. He makes things harder on himself constantly. he still has a lot to prove but is heading in the right direction. who is he fighting next ?

I don't know...if Ortiz is the future of boxing, then boxing is completely ****ed. Exciting as he may be and as high as his marketing potential could be, he's just not that good.

Just a question, does he speak Spanish?

This might affect his marketability, but in general he's got the tools as a fighter to be a good name. Still developing skill-wise, has proven to have the heart/will to succeed, has speed, power, and durability... Perhaps not a superstar, but a big name. You never know We'll see.
