Against both Diaz and Alatorre he got what he wanted. Rounds. Wins. Stoppages. He didn't get what he maybe needed, to prepare himself for someone like Campbell - and that's a manageable dose of adversity. He showed he can still box patiently when he's allowed to. He can still put punches together on an inviting target. He can still hurt somebody when he hits them clean. The problem is that whether he could still do any of those things was never in question, following the stunning loss to Maidana. Whether he could react calmly under duress was the unknown quantity - and still is. Campbell could really harsh his mellow if he's really up for this (and chances are he will be), and I'm not sure Victor's ready for that.
im picking victor for this. he really has to shine and i think he knows that. the maidana fight was 1 step to soon IMO and after this fight with his confidence back he'll be right back in the mix. he'd give any of bradley khan or alexander all they can handle IMO
All kidding aside Ortiz has talent just no heart but at this point in Campbell's career I believe Ortiz can beat Campbell by KO
Agreed. I think he beats all those three, actually. I think he will still reign at the top in the bear future, after getting a couple of strong wins under his belt.
No doubt Ortiz showed no heart in the Maidana fight but he's still young and has a chance to redeem himself. Cotto quit against Margarito, almost quit against Pac and we don't look at him as a fighter with no heart!
The problem Ortiz has is that he's shown that he doesnt react well to be stressfull situations and doesnt like getting hurt. If your a guy like Tim Bradley who got up off the floor i think 3 or 4 times against Holt and your getting a beating from Ortiz thats going to be in the back of your mind and it will boost your resolve and every hard shot you take you'll give him one back meaning that every fight he's in against a top level opponent will be tough and by all accounts he doesnt have the greatest chins in the world . I suspect he's going to be a nearly man. He will need to go in with a seriously tough guy and trade with him before he wins back the respect of the fans. If your a mexican american fight fan and you grew up watching guys like chavez snr are you going to fork out your hard earned cash to watch victor ortiz
I don't believe any fighter can beat all the other in the division without loosing. There is too much talent are soon there aren't going to be any unbeaten records
This content is protected Comparing Cotto vs Margacheato to Ortiz quitting against Maidana is a joke ...
Why not?, so what if he lost one fight and the loss wasn't good enough?, does he deserve the death sentence?, hell no. He lost and is now coming back and I have a feeling his come-back will be successful leaving a lot of apes clueless of what to use to insult him with.
You might be misunderstanding me here, Scar. I'm not one of those who cherishes an undefeated record and writes somebody off the moment they lose (or labels them a hypejob if that first loss comes to someone of inferior merit). Look at Khan - the Prescott KO doesn't dissuade me at all from thinking he can be competitive with anybody in the division. In fact, I pick Khan over Ortiz precisely because of what Khan has shown in his own rebounding efforts. Ortiz hasn't challenged himself since Maidana. Nate will be the first serious challenge he's had to deal with. The question is, can a bright young man who in his own words admitted that he "isn't really sure he wants to be taking a ton of damage" (loosely paraphrased) respond well when challenged by a hungry and cagey veteran? That's all I'm doing, is posing the question. No hating going on here.
Absoulutly he is still vicious... He showed in his last two fights that he has learned from his mistakes.. he got the work in and stayed patient until it was the right time to take his opposition out.. Yea I was stunned by his comments after the Maidina fight but after time to reflect on the situation, I realize that he is young and has probably never been in that situation before, so he said things in the heat of the moment without even realizing what he said.. I am willing to give him a second chance without throwing him under the bus, like so many have.
