Over on bo*ingscene there is a story by Robert Garcia, the trainer of Rios and the one time trainer of Ortiz. He basically is slating Ortiz and says that Ortiz sent a guy over to Rios house with a gun. The guy held the gun to Rios head and his wife ended up injured as well. lol, didn't think Ortiz had that in him

I'm a fan of Victor, so I'm finding it hard to believe everything Garcia is saying there. But it is interesting hearing his side of the story. And I hate to admit it, but I completely agree with him when he says "He simply does not like to be hit". I first noticed this in his fight with Nate. He was controlling the action, boxing safely and would hardly let the old man touch him. Then at some point in the second half of the fight, Victor decides to trade with him and recieves a few shots in the process. Immediately he backs off and goes to safety mode, before walking back to his corner with a bloody nose.

Now I was one of those who defended him when people accused him of having no heart. But after letting Peterson off the hook, my opinions are slowly changing. He's also a little too one-dimensional for my liking. I think Brandon Rios would have him at this point. A shame, because I really wanted to see Victor shut him the **** up.

Gun crime and murder are hilarious subjects aren't they? ****ing mug.

Ortiz needs to concentrate on the ring, as he is floundering. Seems to posses good talent, but I reckon the guy ain't in tip top shape, gases to ****, and doesn't seem to have the heart to dig it out. Khan, maidana and co are a level or two above IMO

Basically Ortiz was with Garcia and Top Rank. According to Rios and Garcia he played dirty tricks to get away from Top Rank and Garcia and his management by filing for bankruptcy and then going to GoldenBoy.

He lost Vargas as a fan because of comments he made about him and ODLH and there fight. Vargas to umbridge and sided with Rios and Co on this matter.

The beef between Rios and Ortiz has been rumbled on since they were kids.

It was probably just to intimidate Rios. Personally I think Rios would beat Ortiz if they fought.

X2. There's something missing in Ortiz's game but I can't put my finger on what it is.

Because Rios threw a punch at the gunman, who then decided to play it safe, and kept it tight and defensive till the end of the round.

He cant fight going backwards, he's one of these fighters with only one gear, the clutch gets stuck in reverse.

I don't think his heart is entirely in it, or he believes there is more to life than boxing-which is totally fair. You only have to see him after the Maidana fight, and his reaction to the draw on Saturday-where most boxers would have been jumping and down howling robbery, he just smiled and accepted it.

Technically, I think he is fairly good, but his gameplans tend to be completely loco at times. It's obvious why Golden Boy and HBO want him to be a star, and to be honest I don't really believe the story. Unless Ortiz has some 'vicious' dark side nobody knows about. Even so, if you hire somebody decent to go and kill Brandon Rios, he'd be dead now.
