Both next in action Saturday 27 June 2009

Ortiz against Marcos Rene Maidana with 25 wins and 24 coming by KO and only a single loss to Amir Khans next opponent, WBA Lightweight Champion Andriy Kotelnik

Amir Khan holds a win over Ortiz from the amatures, who wins in the pros ?

Khan claims he holds a stoppage ! win over Ortiz, I find this hard to believe.

Its possible, in the amateurs if you so much as take a flush left hook the ref stops it.

Stopped him in the third I believe, when they were like 15 or something. means **** now, Ortiz by KO. Nobodies denying Khan was a great amateur, but hes an average pro.

Amateur victories mean nothing. Maskaev supposedly knocked Vitali out about 18 years ago, something like that. Maskaev went on to get KOed multiple times throughout his career, while Vitalis chin is pure steel.

Amir "Baby bird" Khan gets knocked the **** out

Yup, the main thing I've noticed about Khan is not his china chin, but his inability to gut it out with a strong, ruthless pro in the pro game, which is fighting, not point scoring.

I know a lot of great amateurs like him who have pinpoint accuracy and seem like they have barrels of talent, but they can't deliver the hard gruelling blows it takes to make someone say "nah, don't fancy getting up from that". They hate anyone coming at them and hate getting hit, and more importanly, can't take getting hit.

    Amir is one of these.

Ye I agree, in the amatures, its mostly about getting points of and not to mention the first sight of blood or clean landed blow its mostly stopped, Amir Khan has as we know has sharpe hands and was probly able to use this in his fight with Ortiz.

Khan, as a fast npuncher with a glass jaw, is perfectly suited to point scoring, amatuer fights. He strengths are a bigger factor in amatuer fights and his weaknesses are protected.

Ortiz, on the other hand, as a hard hitting pressure fighter, is a lot more suited to professional boxing.
