I've seen quite a few people picking Victor to win this fight which is surprising to me, now Ortiz is a good young fighter, but he lacks heart and since his loss to Maidana he's lost that killer instinct.

I strongly doubt Vics chances based on his heart and his last fight, now he drew with Lamont Peterson, who is a decent boxer but very average, he has average speed, power, chin and skill, Berto is faster, stronger, more athletic, hits harder and has better movement than Lamont who is just a stiff fighter.

Now to draw with a man whom I doubt will ever beat a top ten ranked fighter is not a good sign, look for Ortiz to attempt to outbox Berto, not being aggressive enough and get caught with something in the early to mid rounds.

I also think Berto could make this similar to his bout with Urango and dominate a timid Victor, first fight at Welter, leaky defense and still building his confidence back up, against an established welterweight, with fast hands and very good power who's confidence is thru the roof, this spells KO by Berto, i will be one of the first to admit styles make fights but sometimes a fighter is what he is.

Andre Berto: Win by KO mid rounds.

I can't claim to be a Berto fan at all but I'm puzzled at some of the predictions too. I think he's going to be timid as **** to a TKO loss inside six. The kid is talented but he's not cut out for this. I do think you're selling Peterson short though. He's a good fighter. Ortiz with a different mindset could've run over him though. And early.

No I think Lamont is a decent fighter but average or just barely above, what top 140lber do you favor him over and other than him maybe being technically better than Berto, what advantages does he have over Andre, I have nothing against Lamont but he's just average.

I can dig that, hopefully it will be more interesting than I'm predicting.

I didn't say he had anything over Andre as far as fighting Ortiz. I don't favor him over the absolute top 140 guys, one of which has already beaten him, but rather rate him maybe 5-10 in the division. But, it's a pretty damn good division and being 5-10 in it is much better than some average fighter, imo. I'd like to see him against Kotelnik right now. I think that could be a competitive fight, considering the styles.

Well im thinking Berto is gonna win this but dont count out Ortiz... Ive seen Berto bothered by guys who werent even on Ortiz level in punching power,so i do give Ortiz a good punchers chance.... However im in agreement with everyone on how timid Ortiz has gotten.... I like the Old Ortiz chances much better and would make that version pickem against Berto.... Im thinking Ortiz hurts him early but lets Berto off the hook, Berto then comes back and regularly beats Ortiz to the punch before landing a big shot in the mid rounds, Berto doesnt let him off the hook and stops Ortiz in 8.

PS you keep mentioning the Peterson fight as if the draw was a fair decision... I dont anyone who thinks Peterson deserved a draw.... Ortiz clearly won that depite giving away some rounds.

Okay i feel you, but until he beats a top ten fighter I have him at 11, he doesn't even beat Zab imo.

If Ortiz has the mental strengh, he will beat Berto. Collazo did, but was cheated by the criminals they call judges................

I had Ortiz winning by 2 points but he made it hard against a guy who doesn't have Berto strengths, unless he goes in this confident and intelligently aggressive he will lose imo, he can't be passive and get hit like he did against Lamont.

I don't think Berto is the be all end all of the Welterweight division. In fact, I don't rate him too highly, (rightfully so) but Ortiz is not the guy that will get the job done against Berto. Anything less than a stoppage for Berto would be highly disappointing though.

The only reason the fight was with Peterson was somewhat close was because Ortiz let it be close... He could have closed the show or at least won a somewhat wide decision..... I agree with you though on what he needs to bring against Berto.

i don't know many fighters who in their career hasn't been so called given a "gift decision", even the absolute best have been awarded wins that were questioned, I had Berto by a round in that one neither fighter dominated and that's what happens when you don't dominate.

I hear ya but besides Floyd & Manny, there's no one right now that I would favor over Andre.
