I had Ortiz winning 5-4 in rounds after 9 rounds. I feel really bad for Ortiz, he has been under such a dark cloud of bad luck these past couple years. I wish he could have found a way to get through the last 3 rounds, but presumably he knew what was best in the long term for his health and career. Excellent win for Lopez, he jumps right into the mix of top tier fighters at 140. As for Canelo, his stupid shrug at the end of the fight was probably him realizing he will have to fight someone from his own weight class in September, and whoever it is, figures to give him a very tough night.

 

I had Lopez ahead, so hanging on for 9 mins with a broken jaw ould have helped him.

 

I agree. Cos a handful of fighters have done it at the ttop level all the keyboad warriors now expect all fighters to do it all he time.

His Jaw was broken he was winning the fight but his jaw was def broken his corner should have stopped the ****. Now it makes Victor look even worse since he had to do it himself

Ortiz clearly outboxed Lopez and was winning the fight, which makes his quitting even more distasteful, in my view.

You look at Eddie Chambers fighting with 1 arm.
Time Bradley fighting Manny with 2 bad feet.
Look at Gatti fighting with a broken hand.
AA fighting Miranda with a broken jaw.

He is just a quitter plain and simple.

The time for excuses has stopped.

 

Even though he's dirty as **** and clearly has mental issues, I'm not going to criticize the guy for quitting with a broken jaw. Many, many have quit over much less*
