Ortiz is going to look like a real dweeb if he loses to a guy whose last name is pronounced as "Madonna".

the cancellation of wlad-haye was a bummer for this month, hopefully maidana - ortiz makes up for that. i've been excited about this fight ever since it was announced.

Maidana reminds me of Ponce De Leon. I really hope Ortiz ain't his Lopez though...its possible...Maidana hasn't faced a boxer-puncher like this.

de leon has a much aggressive style and higher workrate..

but a good comparison if we take the de leon-penalosa fight

    Easy night for Ortiz,eh!

What has Ortiz done so far in order to justify the great hype around him? Up to now he has beaten a handful of American clubfighters and journeymen.Easy to look great against soft opposition.
He has never faced a big banger like Maidana in his entire pro career up to now.He hasnt even beaten a decent top 25 fighter up to now.
Damn! Maidana had a bloody close fight with the reigning champ in one of the most entertaining and exciting fights we ve seen within the last couple of months.
We will see which way the cat jumps when Ortiz has to take some of Maidana's murderous shots.
IMO Ortiz is the underdog in this upcomming fight.
Maidana is more experienced, has the upper hand in firepower, and has proved that he can be competitive with the very best out there.
Ortiz hasnt proved anything so far.

You gotta love Maidana. Cocky, awkward, rude, punches like a mule, busy, tough, but also fairly underrated in skills. GBP made a huge mistake here. If Ortiz is indeed the truth everyone is talking about, he'll beat Maidana, I think Kotelnik managed to win and showed a working game plan, but it's a huge step-up in competition vs. an very good awkward fight.

This is the fight I look forward to the most in the Summer and will root for my man Maidana!

I was quite impressed with Maidana's classy performance vs Kotelnik, too.I had seen some rounds of him before. To be honest I had considered him to be a one-dimensional puncher with limited talent, but he proved to be a very versatile fighter in his title shot vs Kotelnik.

One thing I'm not seeing from anyone in regard to Maidana's performance is how patient he was. He took his time, picked his shots, and when he felt Ortiz was ripe for the picking, he threw everything at him. A very smart fight from Maidana. The guy doesn't have the greatest skill-set, but he's smart.

Yep! My guess it that most of the posters who picked Ortiz had never seen Maidana fight in a box ring before.Lack of information!

I can understand them up to a certain degree. Ortiz looked great in his fights beating limited journeymen and American clubfighters black and blue.
The hype machine is very strong.Easy to get influenced by the hpye.We are all human beings.
    Ortiz can come back.

I,too, had never though that Alexeev would lose his fight with tough but totally unknown Argie Ramirez.
Alexeev was a great amateur, and he had looked great in all his pro fights up to the time he met Ramirez in the ring.

Ortiz,Ramirez-I am sure that they will come back and make a lot of noise in their weight divisions!:good
