Victor Ortiz is within a whiskr away of getting a title sot (he should be getting one but obviously Team Khan made a better offer). I'm fine with him having warm up fights. I mean his competition has hardly being good and he needs to fight better fighters to improve. But why fight Maidana, a guy who can realy bang and has a very good chin. He could easily screw up his title chances here. Anyone agree?

its a risky fight for ortiz but as a boxing fan i'm glad that he's fighting maidana. it has the potential to be a good fight and a good test to gauge ortiz's skills in the face of, probably, the best opponent that he'll be facing in his young career. so props to him and his mgt. team

Golden Boy Promotions is careful in match-making, but it can definitely turn out to be a mistake or a step-up too soon. I think they look at Maidana as a crude banger who's open style suits Ortiz well, but it can backfire because Maidana can bang REAL HARD, and has a pretty quick and busy awkward style.

I was very happy to hear the fight being made because I like El Chino and will root for him.

i'm ****ing pumped for this fight. these guys styles are going to make this a possible FOTY candidate. maidana can bang, and i would'nt be shocked if he pulled off the upset. i like both guys, so dunno who to pull for. but i'd like to see the underdog upset the next big thing.

Maidana looked tough as nails against Kotelnik. He has good power and good stamina as well. This will be no walk in the park for Ortiz.

Damn good fight. Maidana's a bit crude, but he's awkward, tough as nails, and packs some iron in his fists. By no means will this be an easy fight for Ortiz, but it will definitely be a winner for the fans. Really looking forward to this one.

Because they're actually trying to get Ortiz to improve. It's not about winning a title right this minute, it's about becoming a star, and if that means a couple losses early in his career because he was matched tough, then so be it.

Brickhaus yep thats what fans like but its extremely rare for promoters to see it that way.
