After seeing Victor Ortiz fight on BAD this past saturday night and seeing clips of Mike Alvarado knocking Emmanuel Clottey out I would love to see these 2 prospects matched up against each other. Who do you guys think would win this fight?
Then you should really see the entire Alvarado fight because he's big and strong, but kind of slow and lacks seasoning. Alvarado might make a good fight of it early, but expect Ortiz to take over and knock him out by about the mid to late rounds. I might be wrong though, so I wouldn't mind seeing it.:thumbsup Ortiz does need some competitive fights so he can hang with the big boys at 140 later on.
It'll be a tough fight for Ortiz. He is surely a better boxer but Alvarado is so strong and big that he can just outpower Victor. I think it'll be Ortiz with a close decision in a wonderful fight.
Ring Magazin just did an articl on Ortiz, Guerrero, and Kirkland. Here are some quotes from an experienced matchmaker regarding Ortiz's chances against some of the division's best; "I wouldn't hesitate putting Victor in with (WBA 140-pound titleholder Andreas) Kotelnik. He has that difficult European style, but he's not a big puncher. I think Victor is a bigger, stronger guy who can bully Kotelnik. I also think Victor is faster than Kotelnik and can beat him to the punch. "(WBC beltholder Timothy) Bradley may be the toughest matchup for Victor in the 140-pound division. Bradley looked good beating an experienced southpaw (Junior Witter) in England last year. He's a strong guy; I think he can match Victor's physical strength. He's also got good speed. He's not a knockout puncher, but he can punch pretty good and he's able rough guys up on the inside. I haven't seen anyone rough up Victor up, yet, so I don't know how he would handle that." "(IBF titleholder Juan) Urango is another tough fight for Victor. He's limited, but he's durable and he's a tremendous puncher. I would stay away from him if I was moving Ortiz."
Future p4p fighter. The sky is the limit for this kid. He also has a pretty decent frame to move up to possibly 154. I noticed in his last fight he rehydrated something like 14 pounds and he still looked cut. What do you guys think of a possible future match up at 147 with Berto? Lets say in a couple of years.
Alvarado is nowhere near ready for Ortiz who's no veteran himself... He has scary power but he's a notch or two below ortiz in every other department. Ortiz would wipe the floor with him at this point.. Alvarado is on Peterson and Urango's level at the moment.
