Ortiz was more energized and aggressive against Berto, which I think can be attributed to not having to drain himself as much. He threw 58 punches per round against Berto, where his average punch output in his last nine fights at 140 was 42 punches per round, which is pretty telling. I doubt Jones can stay away from him, and I doubt Jones can take his heat on the inside, where Jones is not especially good. There's the chance that Jones catches Ortiz coming in recklessly but I doubt that Jones hits at the same level as Berto from what I've seen of him. Primarily, I just doubt Jones' ability to take Ortiz's shots and fight inside in that matchup.

Him vs Alfonso Gomez is a good idea and would be a more dangerous fight for him than most might think. Gomez does not have power but he is very active on workrate and a better technician than Ortiz by a solid clip. Ortiz will not get the clinch treatment from him that Berto put on, there will be punches coming his way the whole time to the head and body, and Gomez is durable with tons of heart. Regardless of the outcome, it would be an all-action fight as long as it went.
