Ortiz's percentage in that first GIF is insanely low. He lands a straight combo (jab left hand, the southpaw one-two) that clinks Mayweather in the face and sends him reeling back into the ropes, but before and after that he was just swinging and missing like crazy. Mayweather was ducking under shots that just went nowhere at times, and leaning back to turn his head and completely avoid being touched at others.

Two punches out of like two dozen is not that impressive, and does not stress the point that Ortiz was landing well or staying competitive.

The 2nd GIF he lands that initial right hook, and then the follow-up left gets blocked as Mayweather pedals away. Everything after that is blocked.

Ortiz actually started slower than usual and Danny Garcia said the plan was to pick up the pressure after the 5th round....ohh well we will never know.

He got to him a little bit in the last round but it basically a domination on mayweathers part. Nothing surprising, he did what he was expected to do. Ortiz needed to make it an ugly fight, instead he tried to box and he had no chance fighting like that.

A lot of people are posting the gifs of mayweather rolling this shots on the ropes, but fail to mention the shots landed that put him here, especially before the headbutt sequence -- a good short right hand followed by a left hook. Both solid shots.

 

That would be due to the right hand that knocked him out...stationary target, no rolling with the punch, he was just standing square on...thats what caused the eye to start closing....

Exactly. Nice to see that there are some on this site that get it. This is as clear as night and day. The action had resumed, therefore the maxim "protect yourself at ALL times" was in effect. Even Ortiz understood this, as some of his postfight comments demonstrated. The only people who don't understand it are blind Mayweather haters. And I'm no Floyd fan either.
