exactly, I was a little worried there and thought Floyd really was hurt and maybe the southpaw + age + layoffs go to him because of that and everybody in the bar yelling.
Then I look at the replay and re-watch the fight and the whole fight itself was more impressive

I've actually laced them up before and am simply willing to point out positive factors of a fighter despite the fact he was losing. It's called being objective.

I think most people felt round 4 was Victor's best round. That's all.

3 decent punches amidst a lot of missed ones isn't impressive in general, but being able to use his size to rush Mayweather like Hatton did and land SOMETHING is still relatively impressive, considering that it was the only chance he was going to catch Mayweather with something significant, and helped him change the pace to his favor. While Mayweather was making him miss 90 percent of his punches, he rarely came back with anything on the ropes, which is unlike him.

Like I said, I had Mayweather winning every round, I was just trying to make the point that he was doing what he needed to do to have any chance at all.

    No.

    Try round six.

Floyd was hitting Ortiz with everything but the kitchen sink. The end was near, IMO...

Well damn that makes it even worse, you boxed but can't tell landed blows from missed ones.

Ortiz landed maybe 3 blows that had no effect on Mayweather while eatting a big upper cut on the way in. He was so ineffective that he did his leaping headbutt.

There is really nothing positive at all about Ortiz's performance. He was getting outclassed and quit again.

Well if in his best round he gets out landed 3 to 1, that doesn't look good for him.

A lot of people see what they want to see because they want Mayweather to lose badly. Floyd was hurting Ortiz in round 4, and landed 22 power shots in that round when Ortiz decided to headbutt him. Ortiz wasn't going to last more than 2-3 more rounds taking the shots he was taking.

Round 4 was best for Ortiz? I disagree, that was Mayweather's best round. He was putting it on Victor, seriously.

Mayweather went to the ropes against Philip Ndou just to wear the guy out and make him miss repeatedly. The commentators went crazy, and then Floyd proceeded to continue kicked the guy's ass and stopped him.

This was barely a step above that. Yes Ortiz landed a glancing counter right hook, but Floyd made him miss everything against the rope and was going to go back to busting Ortiz's eyes up soon when Ortiz threw that flying headbutt.

Ortiz's eye was visibly swollen after only 4 rounds. He was getting dominated.

Was Ortiz enjoying more success than he had been in the fourth? For sure.

Would have mattered in the end? No...not a bit, from what I could tell.

But Floyd has displayed an ability to take the fight away from, and out of his opponents after they experience moments of success. Case in point, he had completely dominated the third, after Ortiz had managed to make the previous frame that was somewhat competitive.

Given that Ortiz was appearing to be bothered more and more by the punches he was absorbing, and the fact that his eye was starting to swell, and given the fact that he was expending an awful lot of energy without being able to inflict that much damage on his opponent, he likely wasn't gonna be able to retaliate with the same amount of intensity when his opponent accelerated his attack once more. And Floyd almost certainly would have done so- just to remind everyone that his victory wasn't in doubt.

One way or the other, Ortiz folds under the pressure- and more than likely we see the same scene play out in the next three or four rounds. Maybe it goes down the same way. Maybe Ortiz goes down in less controversial fashion.

But either way, Ortiz was going down in that fight. And he probably wasn't getting up once that happened.

I think Mayweather wins via kayo anyway; and it was probably going to happen within the next three or four rounds.

no, not getting to him at all... ortiz had a few ok punches land but nothing significant or fight changing... mayweather was still adjust'ing to southpaw stance and he was already on his way to dismantling ortiz... i think the fight would have went on to at least the 7-8th rds and ending in a KO/TKO.... floyd actually sat down more on his punches this time.

I don't think Ortiz was getting to Floyd. If the fight had went on, he'd have had a few more spirited flurries with Floyd backed up onto the ropes, but he'd have kept getting picked off and hurt with that straight right and would've lost a wide, wide UD. Ortiz didn't have the tactical discipline or composure to be in there with Floyd. His gameplan was pathetic.

Floyd won all the 4 rounds but IMO Ortiz is getting stronger. I had a feeling that Ortiz will go all out in the later rounds when he has nil chance of winning on points.

All of that does not make any difference now though.

Do as you feel. Prescott still sucks and so does McCloskey.
