He fought a great fight. He just needs to learn not to talk. Slick boxing is his game. Talking a slick game, not so much.

Its posts like these that show you're a fan of brawling rather than boxing. What Ortiz did was box the last time he tried to play to people like you he got tkoed what he showed in the Campbell fight is that he has learned from his mistakes and is boxing to his strengths. Why go toe to toe when you can fight smart and box circles around your opponents instead? I have never understood that logic.

He seemed disturbingly wary of an opponent that really didn't seem like he had much to offer.

    He's a joke. (Gonzo )

Moving around, is a bad thing to him.

You've gotta learn from your mistakes first.

I hate fans that criticize fighters for trying to win first then entertain.

Well said, and to add to that Ortiz was winning that brutal war until that round! People seem to forget he floored Maidana 3 (or 2) fukin times.

He didn't impress me the other night but I guess he's just starting to get his confidence back. That's all the Campbell fight was really.. a confidence builder.

I agree, he drastically improved his technique.

For his build, he's almost a complete boxer given his current skillset.

He can compete with the best at this point, and I would favor him over Maidana if they were to fight again.

I would to. Ortiz was boxing beautifully until he was lured into a war. If they meet again Ortiz would box smart.

Winning cures a lot of hurt. The only way I'll know if Ortiz is back for good physically and mentally is if he can get a rematch w/ Maidana and beat him. Then and only then will he gain back the fans that he lost.

We all have our preferences. I like "brawlers" you like "runners".

I would rather watch fighters like Tyson, Duran, Chavez, Marquez, etc., then
boxers like Ortiz, Camacho, Floyd, whitaker, etc.

And I'm not knocking Ortiz for fighting with what he feels more comfortable with, just saying it will hurt his fanbase!

running from a right hand isn't the same as countering it, so i wouldn't call it smart boxing, he still doesn't have an answer so he will eventually have to learn to face it and counter rather than run away like he did vs campbell, 100 bucks he still loses to maidana
