I watched a stream of the Ortiz-Peterson fight and at the time, only I did'nt really follow it that closely, therefore I just went back and watched it.

A few things I noticed with Victor Ortiz, when he attacks, he comes in straight on the line, Roy Jones mentioned it during the telecast, and if you watch the fight, he does it continually throughout the fight, he also has a tendency to over shoot the left hand when he attacks, and when he does this, he will try to follow up with right hook, but he gets square when he does this and looks open to me. I guess what you would like to see Ortiz doing more of, is what Atlas has got Povetkin doing it, I dont like to use that example, buts its the one that springs to mind, which is before he steps in with his attacks, Atlas had got him looking of ways of which he can step off the line so he doesn't come in straight with his attacks, Ortiz should take note imo.

Peterson did a better job of countering him in the latter part of the fight, as he landed counter right hand a few times, although I felt he could of utilized the counter uppercut to when Ortiz came in on line trying to set up his big left hands, or, I thought he should of been trying to nail him with a the left hook when he came in straight, as I say, he did a better job of countering toward the end, but obviously not enough, something to keep an eye in the future regarding Ortiz though.

I had it closer than Lederman. I scored it in my head so I cant recall what my score was, but there were 3 late rounds that I definitely thought Peterson won, that Lederman scored for Ortiz.

Was deffo a closer fight than Lederman had it, although I do think Ortiz won, KD's seemingly being the key.

I am very worried for Ortiz. He has a terrible mentality. The man has become absolutely gun-shy.

I read an article the other day where Robert Garcia was saying that Ortiz never liked being hit, even as an amatuer and that he'd even cry and that the Maidana fight was nothing.

Ortiz isn't improving and I don't think he will. He's also struggling with the weight and it doesn't exactly get easier when going up.

In terms of talent and ability, Ortiz is top of the line, but mentally he's shot. I feel he could have battered Peterson had he kept pressing the action, several times it was like you could see his mind saying "go" but his body saying "no", and it cost him.
