It's a weird thing with Ortiz.. He's definately not nearly as good as De La Hoya at this stage, but he does come off as quite excellent. It's hard to say exactly, but something's clearly missing. For one, Victor needs to learn how to take himself out of his roving guard. He cuts down on his mobility, vision, and reaction timing and ability locking up like that. Also, he tends to get wasteful and slightly wild if his opponent puts up decent resistance. And there are questions about his punch resistance and ring intelligence, overall.. We shall see however. In order to understand where guys like Ortiz, Berto, and some of the up and coming stars place in the big scheme of things you have to go back and watch early footage of fighters like Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Fernando Vargas, ect. You'll be blown away at how ****ing good these veterans were. They're on different planets from this new crop of guys.. Juan Manuel for example was outstandingly skilled and dynamic at just 10 or so fights.
