Victor Santillan stopped in the third round by TKO victory his compatriot from Dominican Republic Noel Reyes Cepeda and is the new WBA Interim Super Bantamweight (122 lbs) champion. Noel Reyes Cepeda beat before this fight the former WBA Super Flyweight (115 lbs) challenger the Dominican Norbelto Jimenez in December 2024.

He is mandatory challenger for the WBA against the winner of Inoue vs Junto Nakatani with Ryosuke Nishida (IBF challenger).

Victor Santillan had two very good fights against Sho Ishida and Tenshin Nasukawa. But he is far from being at the top level of the best Japanese or Mexican fighters at 122 lbs.

I think Inoue, after his fight against Junto Nakatani, will move up to the Featherweight category and leave the WBA belt vacant. In my opinion, Victor Santillan will face Junto Nakatani for the WBA belt, or possibly Yerny Betancourt, the Venezuelan who holds the WBA Gold belt.

What is strange also it's because the WBA wanted absolutely a Dominican for his WBA Interim belt at 112 lbs (Super Bantamweight).
