Danny Garcia looked upset and wanted him to continue, Victor said so himself in the post fight. Then Danny escorted Victor out of the ring before he said anything else. I bet a broken jaw hurts like a *****, but I keep remembering AA Vs. Edison. If AA sat it out he would have lost the title. He fought on.

Oh well we'll see what happens next, I'm glad for LOpez!

ive broken a dudes jaw(cracked it) and he kept coming and coming even after being dropped about 3 times. didnt know it was broken until the next day of school and saw his jaw wired up. but to be fair he was drunk. it probly helped him ignore the pain.

I hear you Bro. In no way am I bashing Victor, just saying what I saw on TV. Now I read that he also suffered a fractured sternum. WTF!

Knowing if you finish on your feet you have a multi-million dollar pay day coming should have helped his motivation a tad. I'm skeptical given his past. I'll wait for the medical reports. Shoulda been out by now.

That being said I still think he should have fought on, or at least lay down in the next round instead of quitting on the stool as a young fighter.

In all probability Herm, if the jaw was broken , as well as the sternum, he wouldn't be a candidate to fight in September.

Don't blame you for being skeptical though. Always seems to be something with this guy .

He didn't just break a jaw and sternum. He was broken down mentally knowing his opponent wouldn't give up and fight back for the full 12 rounds no matter what he threw.

I agree with that even if he didnt have those injuries he was mentally out of it you could see it I mean Vic would stop after he got his shots off Josesito would come on land his own and Vic would then get back in position trying to put on that poker face and resort to retreating when Josesito would advance.

it was a matter of time he may have gotten stopped had those injuries not taken place

I hear you bruh. Alcohol def. helps with the pain. I got into a scrap about 4 years back on New Years. I broke my orbital bone in two places and we kept fighting. I was ****in' bent that night and slept 'til about 3 the next afternoon. I had a feeling it was broken but didn't know for sure until I got the X-ray. I've grown up fighting but that was the worst injury I've had. I mean I've broken Knuckles and bones in my hands but I can't comment on how a broken jaw feels but I imagine it doesn't feel too ****in good lol. Some people have that drive to keep going and some don't. We aren't all built the same and that's part of the excitement of the sport. "Modern Day Gladiators" No mutha ****in' doubt!!

I have some doubts about Ortiz's heart (& head) myself, but none of us have a right to question his quitting.

It's not noble or tough to continue when hurt, it's stupid. Rob Helenius may have ended his career because his trainer made him fight with a bad shoulder. Abraham? Maybe his break was in a different spot & so hurt less, or maybe he just got lucky. That fight could have ruined him.

Also, if Ortiz' jaw was broken (and he probably could tell) then the Alvarez fight was over, anyway. - Unless you keyboard warriors think he should have also fought Canelo with a wired jaw.

Hey, that would be impressive, huh?

only person I know who had his jaw broken was dropped, stayed on the floor and cried like a ***** . . . . I think Victor composed himself quite well

You must be ******ed is you're basing this on the AA fight. Some mafia probably gave AA the death look if he didn't continue. If AA had a choice he would have quit in that fight.
