    Oh!

Look how he closes the distance with that huge left, and then keeps the heavy pressure with the big punches on the inside.

You know watching this fight in slo-mo, gives you an appreciation for both fighters. I like to see the first few rds of a fight when both fighters are fresh cos then you can see what the fighters abilities are and maybe get a hint of how they intend on fighting. Before anybody says anything I do realize some fighters are fast starters, some take a few rds to warm up.
Savold it seemed was going to box Marciano. You'll see Savold catch Marciano coming in with a jab, at the 1:09 point Savold catches Marciano's jab with his right. at the 1:30 mark you will see why a right cross is not as effective with a guy who uses his left shoulder as a defense and both Marciano and Savold used it well. Watch how Savold makes Rocky miss, that wasnt luck it was skill. Watch how Savold makes Rocky miss with a left hook and an inside right uppercut at the 1:36 to 1:38 mark. Savold wasnt running he was right in front of Marciano using only a jab and his subtle moves. Watch at the 1:43- 1:45 mark Savold inviting a punch from Rocky and when Rocky throws it, he misses by a bunch. At the 2:05 mark Savold sidesteps a Rocky overhand right.
This is not to say Rocky didnt have his moments in this rd, everybody knows what Rocky can do, but some posters think that Savold didnt belong in there, his skills said otherwise. This was a good fight for Rocky, Savold did what he could with this prime time wrecking machine that was Rocky. Before the howlers start attacking, Savold was not as bad as you make him out to be. Simply he couldnt keep Rocky off him and weakened as the fight went on from Rocky's relentless attack. Give the guy credit, he stayed upright throughout.
