GGG's lack of body work cost him the W. If he went to the body early he would have taken enough out of Canelo to conclusively pull those last 3 rounds. This is the main reason I favor him in the rematch.
I think the rematch will be largely determined by how long it takes for the rematch to take place, where it takes place (please not Vegas again) and what both fighters learned from this. Both can do more in the rematch... Canelo can be (even) more flashy in combo's, because Golovkin somehow seems to think it's a turn based game. And Golovkin could attack Canelo's body (like mentioned) which is a huge weapon for him, certainly with Canelo's already present stamina issues.
In addition to that, I think Golovkin was uncharacteristically nervous in the early going, and I don't see him being so unsure of himself to start the rematch. But... Canelo is getting better and continues improving.
Nice video Something tells me Canelo might've ended GGs prime. No body can take that kind of punches and not leave something in the ring. GG probably gets stopped in the tie breaker
I think GGG may be in the early stages of decline, but I still think he's an exceptional talent. But he did have two difficult fights in a row, where he took more punishment than we typically see him absorb. So you could be right, and Canelo seems to still be improving. But I believe that GGG has a lot of room for improvement in the rematch.
It's a tough one, because as Rummy says, GGG's tactics could be improved a lot from the first fight. But overall I'm still going to pick Canelo in the rematch - GGG will decline further physically, plus if Canelo improves his stamina that will made a big difference. I'd be very surprised if GGG got KO'ed though, he's got a great chin and covers up well when under fire.
You're probably right, but not usually a big fan of that type of logic. Pacquiao fought JMM for more than 36 rounds before JMM dropped Pac. And Kovalev probably never thought Ward could ever buzz him the way he did with a well placed right hand. I generally agree with the spirit of what you're saying, and I'm inclined to believe a rematch would probably go 12. But you never know what might happen in any given fight.
1, 2, 3, and 12. Here's a quick breakdown of what I thought, if you're interested. This content is protected
Fair enough... I found 1 very close and scored it even. 2-3 Canelo 4-5 GGG 6 Canelo 7-9 GGG 10-12 Canelo 6-5-1 checking it out now
