Most likely he will. When you're 16 you're just a kid FFS. He was (is) one talented kid, I'll give him that.
I dont think he will be worn out early since his style is not really one of taking alot of punches. He is more of a counter puncher like JMM. They tend to have logner careers. Look at JMM. He started at 20 and is now 38 and is still fighting at the highest possible level. Morales and Barrera are another story because they would take more punches than needed.
An interesting thing to note is that he should actually have about 10 more fights on his record. When he was 15 no one wanted to fight him anymore on the amateur level so they had to pay some people to fight him to give him experience. In the KD and KO in that fight you see a calm and composed 16 year old G.
Canelo has said on Mexican TV the he had his first Amateur fight at age 13 and represented the state of Jalisco in the national Olympics where he won 2 Gold Medals. After 2 years people refused to fight him and he decided to turn pro. One interesting thing to note that is not common knowledge is that his family makes Ice Cream. They taught him how to make Popsicles and Mexican Ice Cream and had him work in the family business.
Another piece of trivia on Canelo is that he was on the reserves of a first division soccer team in Mexico. I forget what team though. the guy is just a built athlete. He is only going to keep getting better and better with each fight and that is why i do not think he should be rushed. He never should have picked up the damn belt. This kid could be one of Mexicos best if brought along properly. Only 21 years old... Funny his some say Broner is destined to be great and say he was only 21 when he fought PDL. That is their excuse but Canelo does not get that out....
Went alright for a 16 year old. Plenty of fight in him. But wow he's come a long way in a short time since.
Nah.. he doesn't have much amatuer experience if any so he is still fresh probably more fresh at age of 21 than more 21 year old pros.
