No question that headbutt affected Torres and set up the KO.

it did set up the KO but it was definately accidental. Should be a NC

 

Don't know if Torres can come back from something like that. That headbutt rocked him, right on the chin. But he defo could've recovered. He was still conscious and aware of himself and Holt. But that right hand, which the accidental butt set up, was a seriously brutal punch that would've KO'd many. That was a devastating right hand -- wind up deal, similar to the punch that Rahman KO'D Lewis with.

It's pretty sad, but I don't think Torres will ever be the same again… Out on the canvas -- leg twitching -- had shades of Marciano's KO of Walcott, just referring to the fact that he was slumped over the ropes entirely unconscious. That's the type of punch that destroys chins.

The headbutt entirely unintentional though. It was a by product of Torres getting way too wild and Hlot doing as any fight should keeping his chin close to his chest coming up with body to head punches.

 

Why should it be a NC? It was the punch that had him unconscious. But then again, if the Referee was in the right position to see the butt, he would've stopped the action and gave Torres time to recover. It's a tough call, I guess. In any case Torres may never be the same again.

 

The WBO can do exactly what the WBC did last week when Soto fought

Yeah. But it's a entirely different situation. It's not the referees fault that Torres got wild in there and a clash of heads happened. Torres should've composed himself -- he got too excited. In any case -- Nady was in a bed position. This stuff happens in boxing, clash of heads are sometimes not seen and the fight continues without stopping. I think of the first Mosley vs Forrest fight. The clash of head really hurt Shane and a few secs later he was on the canvas for the first time AND LAST time (so far) of his career and he never recovered. He was almost stopped. The headbutt set up the KD and he didn't even get any case to recover from it.

That's boxing, it happens. Although this case is worst than shanes, because the clash of heads buckled his knees and had him falling off balance into the ropes because he was hurt and attempting to get out of the way of Holts pounches.

But it happens.

If it was accidental and it was the punch that actually stopped the fighter...it CANNOT be a NC.

I absolutely agree - the fight was won by Holt. No question.
But the headbutt propably affected the KO - but there are many examples out there where either a hedbutt or any decent illegal punch etc are being used.

But Holt won this clearly, but did look like the weaker man in there to be honest...
