Disagree on lack of big fights, Bellew fight in UK is big, Stevenson is US is big too. Ward left money on the table, his decision is perplexing to say the least.
I admire the skills but he's like Floyd. He seemed selfish and greedy. I like guys like Pacquiao and Golovkin who feel like they owe their fans something. They want to fight a lot and to be entertaining. I'm not going to miss Ward even if he was the best super middle we've ever had. He should have lost both his fights with Kovalev so, like Floyd he'll retire with his 0 intact but having an asterisk next to it.
He's a bum and a fraud. Won't be missed. I think the SHAME got to him. He knows he can't beat Kovalev fair and square. He's a FRAUD.
A future HOFer for sure(and I'm in the minority appreciating and actually enjoying his style), but could've been so much greater.
Like I just said in your thread, the fact that Ward has so many disgruntled haters is a testament to his tremendous talent as a boxer.
I personally don't think the Stevenson fight would be that big in the States. It would probably do, at best, no better than Ward-Kovalev. I'd love to see it! But that's not what I meant by big fight. What kind of revenue do you think Ward-Bellew would generate in the UK?
The only talent he showed against Kovalev was the fact that he could influence judges, and that he was willing to bend the rules way more. Fraud. I never saw that kind of thing with Mayweather. He was ALWAYS good enough to ACTUALLY win. Not cheat his way to victory. Ward wasn't ever P4P #1 since the end of super six.
SKY PPV, Hearn and Bellew wanted it. Not huge but would do decent numbers. UK is the mecca of boxing now.
