"It's extremely hard to look at a Marquez fight and try to take away something that enables you to have insight to how the Floyd Pac fight will play out..."

    think this?

Every style is unique in boxing and small subtleties can make the difference between winning comfortably or having issues.

Marquez is a very unique counterpuncher who had Pac worked out from the get go.

The fients (not just in amount but in type) given out by both Pac & Marquez were ridicilous & the way their styles meshed is why it's one of the greatest trilogies in boxing history.

Honestly what Marquez & Pac had in the ring was truly special i've never seen two styles clash so well.

You want the video to put all of that in there? There are other videos for that.

Does Floyd have the power to make Pacquiao respect the threat of his right hand though? Maidana came forward for 24 rounds and didn't look phased once.

Good question. Maidana didn't respect Floyd's power at all.

Sounds like your argument is there are subtleties that one fighter possesses that another may not. I don't disagree but if you fully apply that logic than you can't predict any fight from any fighters past history. More importantly, figuring out quirks and subtleties in a fighter is one of Mayweather's greatest strengths.

What we know is that Marquez was successful countering Pacquiao. Besides round 1 in the first fight and parts of the 4th fight Marquez was able to mostly neutralize Pac's power and speed. We know that Pac gets in bad positions and leaves openings that Marquez was able to exploit since round 2 of their first fight.

We also know that Mayweather is a better counter puncher than Marquez. He is longer and has faster feet than Marquez. He's better defensively than Marquez. He controls distance better than Marquez and he exploits openings better than Marquez. So it's completely logical that Floyd's will capitalize on the faults that Marquez has exposed in Manny.

Maidana got buzzed by a left hook in the first round of the first fight. He respected Floyd's power, but he knew if he kept a good punching pace Floyd couldn't fire back. He wasn't landing much but he was stopping counters from coming back. Beautiful gameplan from Garcia, but no fighter can keep that pace long enough to win 7 rounds. Still he couldn't win 4 rounds in either fight.

interesting insight now let's be objective

    1. This video makes it sound like JMM gives Pacquiao trouble but not other way around. As we know, Pac gives JMM fits too so in a way, he hasn't done that bad against JMM, right? Even in that 4th fight, Manny was winning until get got KO'd
    2. This video makes it look like JMM is a tactical genius who outboxes Manny. Well, it's not that simple. Yes, JMM uses tactics but at the same time, JMM gets hits a lot vs Manny. This video makes it seem like it's all tactics and now slugging. Realty is that JMM spends a lot of time simply slugging and trading punches. I wouldn't call this 'technical mastery' but rather a brainless strategy of trading blows, hoping one will end in a KO..
    3. Without the KO, JMM would be 0-3-1 vs Manny. What this tells me is that JMM isn't as successful as people think outboxing Manny, he seems to need to a KO to win.

so 1. JMM hasn't done that well vs Manny and 2. his tactics have often involved slugging 3. JMM has needed to KO him to win. So how do these 3 factors apply to Mayweather. 1. It won't be an easy fight simply cause he's technical 2. He won't be slugging it out as JMM does 3. Slight chance of him KO'ing Manny to win

so, we can view this from two different perspectives.

JMM feints more than Floyd and stays closer to opponents.

It's a video showing what Manny struggles with. It's not supposed to be a highlight reel of what he does well. We KNOW what he does well. You can watch many of his fights and see that.

What you don't see often, and this is why he's a great fighter, is what he actually has struggles against, because this occurs so infrequently.

The video is a technical breakdown of these flaws. It's not meant to trash Pacquiao as an overall boxer, or his career. The focus is on "technical boxers and why they cause Manny problems" compared to other fighters. JMM is the primary example, because frankly, that's the only ATG technical boxer that he's fought in recent years. (There are not that many of them) And it takes an ATG technical boxer to expose these flaws in Manny. Not anybody can do it. Pacquiao is an ATG for a reason.

If you have a video on Mayweather as thorough as this that goes over his weaknesses, I would be glad to watch it.

Your 3rd point is really irrelevant, because the KO did happen. And many felt Manny lost their 3rd fight. Most objective people realize that Manny and JMM could fight 50 times, and you'd have a competitive match all 50 fights. At some point, you have to question "why that is." And it's because of the issues in the video.

Can Mayweather also do this? I believe so, and I believe he'll do it better than Marquez. There is no comparison between the two. Floyd is a level above JMM. And JMM truly is an ATG fighter. It says a lot about Floyd's ability and skill. He totally out-classed Marquez.

    Basically this!

It's hard to tell what's going to happen for many reasons. As others have said this only points to Marquez's successes against Pacquiao, but it doesn't look at what Pacquiao does well himself. He has about 5 KD's against Marquez I believe, I could be wrong, I don't remember. It was a really difficult fight for Marquez every time.

Pacquiao is very quick, throws a lot of feints and fights in angles. Think about the last time Mayweather has to had to fight someone who does this? Mayweather has benefitted from fighting aggressive fighters who are slow, flat footed and fight in straight lines.

Mayweather's timing, reactions, and counters are impeccable against predicatable slow punches. Is he going to have as easy of a time reacting our countering with all the feints that Pac will be using? Will he catch the punches that come in quick and odd angles? Will he counter Pac after he's turned the angle after the first 3 punches? The likely outcome is yes, but I don't know!

pretty pointless using Pac-JMM 3 as your example, that was clearly the worst Pacquiao performance in years and he still won that fight. Manny had too many distraction in his personal life building up to that fight and Manny underestimated JMM as he thought it would be an easy fight for him at the higher weight.

so your in for a big shock if you use that particular fight as some sort of measuring stick
