Well this is probably his last shot at glory and chance to make the big bucks. Nobody is giving him a chance (and barely anyone is even giving him a puncher's chance!) so he really has nothing to lose (assuming of course he doesn't walk into a big right and loses his jaw...) Can you imagine if Briggs does win though? Do you think this would shake up the division. Might even get the American's interested in the heavies again
Yeah, I agree. IMO it will be a bit like Vitaly v Corrie Sanders. Vitlay might get clocked early if he's unlucky, but the punching from briggs will just like sanders, get less and less frequent as the fight goes on, until it's a combination of damage and stamina that gets rid of him. As someone else said, when Briggs fought Lewis (many years ago, and much lighter, quicker and generally better), it was as much exhaustation as damage that got him stopped.
Here's a new video Briggs just posted...skip to 1:40 and you can see he's ripped....at least he's coming into the fight in shape. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbcC0d3EWDA[/ame]
1,2,3 and I know I'm pushing it but even 4 rounds Briggs has a punchers chance, before gassing out and picked apart from vitali.
I had a chance to meet with him he has been working on his conditioning even when he is off. You cant teach an old dog new tricks but when was the last trick invented? I give him props as we talked for about an hour he said that Vitali has something that belongs to him
Just re-watched the Lewis Briggs fight, that was a great scrap!!! Briggs was shipping some serious punishment from rd 3 onwards. Having no defense doesn't really help though.
Briggs looks like he's training hard for this fight, and got in great shape. I'm looking forward to this fight. Briggs is short on stamina, but brings the kind of power and good skills that Vitali hasn't seen in a long time.
a glass chin- NO an iron chin? no a good chin? yes first of all, hes fought maybe 2 guy in the last 14 years that was capable of cracking his jaw...Lewis and Peter (maybe kirk johnson). Lewis was old and nearly did it...peter while heavy handed is a one punch homerun hitter that usally strikes out. I dont Blame Vitali for the **** awful guys these days...but to grant him some kind of iron jaw like alot of people do is idiotic. if youre chin has never been tested, its impossible to grade,,,,, it looked very average against a 37 year old out of shape Lewis......and he hasnt fought anyone of that caliber since
too bad his power only works on guys like (opponents in BOLD) 2000 warren williams 14-9-1 TKO3 This content is protected :rofl 2000 Eric Curry 22-6 KO1 2001 Russel Chasteen 14-3 KO1 2001 Jason Waller 26-17 TKO1 2001 Reynaldo Minus 16-9 KO1 This content is protected 2003 Marvin Hill 10-8 TKO1 2003 John Sargent 25-2 TKO1 "IBU Heavyweight title" 2003 Wade Lewis 12-6 TKO3 2004 Jeff Pegues 18-12 TKO1 2005 Demetriuce King 7-5 TKO2 Briggs has 45 fights/King has 7 wins 2005 Abraham Okine 14-0 TKO3 Okine has 3 opponents with a winning record 2005 Ray mercer 34-5 KO7 Mercer is 44 years old 2005 Brian Scott 25-6 KO1 2005 Luciano Zolyone 22-0 KO1 "WBC FECARBOX heavyweight title" 2006 Dicky Ryan 55-8 KO4 2006 Chris Koval 23-2 KO3 This content is protected :rofl 2008 INACTIVE 2009 Marcus McGee 22-17 KO1 2010 Rafael Pedro 20-8-1 KO1 WBC Latino heavyweight title 2010 Dominique Alexander 19-8-1 TKO1 2010 Rob Calloway 70-11 TKO1 career cruiserweight so last time i checked Briggs isnt knocking out anyone unless they have an average of 10 losses and work full time at walmart in the warehouse....
briggs will lose because of a) his shitty list of opponents that did nothing for him b) being in shape and in "boxing shape" is night and day c) go watch his fights vs ibrgimov and likoviach d) ive seen this movie before e) he has no plan B
Perhaps you have forgotten a certain South African SouthPaw named Corrie Sanders? Or a tough Nigerian named Herbie Hyde? A British Banger named Danny Willams? Joe Jouis, Mike Tyson and Joe Frazier they ain't but the could bang.
