Bad man in a good way, that is. A bad good man/teenager. At the time of this footage, Floyd was the future Middleweight gold medalist of 1952, future top light heavyweight contender as a pro, future two-time heavyweight champion of the world, future youngest ever heavyweight champion, future first to regain the world heavyweight title and future hall-of-famer. Dig it. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDMYvAw37rs[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKXrG_8GlHs[/ame] All the few current amateur fights I have brought myself to watching these days are so miserable by comparison... "I think he blinked, let's give him a standing eight!"...I'm just throwing that in there. *****, *****, moan, moan, etc. Anyway, I was really happy to find this footage and thought I'd share in case it hadn't been posted. And if it has, sue me. This content is protected
He's on the short list for my all-time favorites. I love his style and combination punching, body work, speed, etc. Maybe the only heavyweight champ who really rivals Ali in speed, and maybe even edges him on it, imo. At his peak, when he was a polished pro, just blistering.
Floyd was a bad man in his day, but todays fighters eat up that lunging attack first style, and pick it apart. Rahman KO Patterson 5.:verysad
I know this isn't as gentlemanly as Patterson would have put it and I'm sorry I have to say it this way, but, Hasim Rahman is to Floyd Patterson what my **** is to your mother. Just a big satisfying meal. No offense. Pulling a lucky shot out of your ass on an out-of-shape great does not make you on Patterson's level. You are the weakest link. Goodbye.
Erm....what the hell was going on in the first clip?! But yeah, great footage. Patterson was always great to watch. Underrated champion and if he chose to fight at LHW instead he could have been one of the greatest champs there.
Patterson has probably some of the best quotes in boxing. "It's like being in love with a woman. She can be unfaithful, she can be mean, she can be cruel, but it doesn't matter. If you love her, you want her, even though she can do you all kinds of harm. It's the same with me and boxing. It can do me all kinds of harm but I love it." - The Man Himself
good ****.. Why did he lose his edge?? Do you think he he just earned so much so early or simply got it beaten out of him?
I don't need alcohol to defend one of the greatest men of all time. This is about "The Gentleman of Boxing", mother****er.
Go watch Patterson/London. Get your own eyes checked first. Also, read this thread if you actually care that other people have differing opinions for sound reasons. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7855304
