No, Alvarez found the limit of his effective operating ceiling against elite opposition, I actually think he ought to get more credit for being competitive with Bivol, this guy made 152 for Mayweather, he's built like a tank with ridiculous skills but he's a midget for light heavyweight. He was simply probing for a reality check after the progressive well deserved arrogance he'd been building up, which Bivol duly gave him. Beterbiev's aggression wouldn't be to his detriment unlike 90% of Canelo's opponents, Bivol was lighting him up and backing him up pretty severely at times. Beterbiev wouldn't light him up as much but he would punch holes in him eventually as he tires, Saul is made of granite but he doesn't need that kind of force bearing down on him, he is a four weight world champion but the belt up here was from a spent force. Instead of ridiculing him for a commendable effort against a very good champ in Bivol he should be recognised for attempting further greatness in returning to the division after flattening a faded Krusher.
It's decision and temptation that Canelo will have to deal with and decide. If he thinks he can possibly win the fight without taking a dangerous amount of punishment then it might be worth the risk. Canelo might be too tough for his own good though. It would take a ridiculous amount of punishment to take Canelo out and that might be ugly and dangerous for a guy who will likely soon retire. The way i see it, the bout will be competitive until Canelo gets tired down the stretch, similar to the trilogy fight where Canelo gasses and become vulnerable, at that time Beterbiev will be gaining more and more steam. Beterbiev will win these rounds decisively, possibly with knock downs or a tko. This is how many invisioned the Golovkin fights might have happened, but they didn't.
If Canelo clearly lost then got the decision then people would complain. If Canelo clearly won and got the decision he would get credit, same as it has ever been. You didn't hear anybody complain Canelo didn't deserve the decision in trilogy fight did you? Thats because Canelo really won that one. See how that works?
There is no way Canelo fights Beterbiev unless he believes he has aged significantly. Canelo could survive to a gift decision but to do so he would need to take a lot of damage.
In 2021, this COULD be pretty interesting. I think age has taken part now, Canelo can't push the pace he used to. In all of his recent fights he has had to pace himself especially while going the distance (his last finish was in 2021). Beterbiev is also 40 years old though so any every fight I usually expect him to be washed lol.
LOL LOL Beterbiev doesn't pay oponnents to lose (aka Kovalev) and fights real fighters coming to win.
I suggest you look up “Saul Alvarez” on boxrec and review his record. With that said - the Kovalev fight was definitely off even if he wasn’t paid off!
No, cement-footed fighter doesn't stand a chance against Beterbiev. You need to have movement AND stamina to have a chance against him. Canelo has none of that
